ArtWalk is a cultural event series in Longmont for arts lovers and future arts lovers. We connect arts, business, nonprofit, and education to celebrate local creativity. The Firehouse Art Center is proud to be an active member of Downtown Longmont’s Creative District. For this reason, we are proud to partner with the LDDA in promoting Stronger Streets and Bigger Hearts! Thanks to the unanimous vote by City Council, Downtown has the opportunity to enlarge outdoor areas and pedestrian spaces on Main. With this space, businesses are hoping to grow outdoor dining and shopping areas, allowing guests to dine and shop al fresco while also following social distancing regulations. The Firehouse is happy to be partnering with Downtown businesses to offer creative activities, both as entertainment and as art making opportunities, during scheduled times on the weekend! September ArtWalk is responding to the needs of the community and this Fall will be modified into smaller weekend art events. Smaller recurring events means a better ability to meet social distancing requirements while giving art and culture visibility throughout the summer! Combined with our ArtWalk Strongmont Virtual Art Market, we will be able to satisfy both those that want to remain at home and those that are looking for a safer option for live events. We are giving artists, performers, art lovers, and future art lovers a chance to choose a virtual market OR a weekend live outdoor market but in a smaller setting making crowd control and social distancing easier. ArtWalk Summer on the Streets Schedule July 11 – Making of the Longmont Selfie Longmonster- watch local artists make a paper mache Longmontster sculpture. Participate in painting one socially distanced section! July 18 – PM Art Market- Come shop in an outdoor market, meet with artists creating, sharing and selling their works. Art of all forms will be represented. (social distancing and masks required) July 25 – 10 am-2pm- Kids Activities (art kits – no shared materials). Come pick up an art kit for some summer creating! Socially distanced tables available or take home to complete. Limited availability. August 1st – 5pm-8pm- Art Market and Music-Come enjoy some outdoor music and artist booths throughout Downtown Longmont! August 8 – 5pm-8pm- Art Market and Music-Come enjoy some outdoor music and artist booths throughout Downtown Longmont! August 15 – 10 am-2pm- Kids Activities (art kits – no shared materials). August 22 – 5pm-8pm- Art Market and Music-Come enjoy some outdoor music and artist booths throughout Downtown Longmont! August 29 – 5pm-8pm- Art Market and Music- Come enjoy some outdoor music and live art making through Downtown Longmont! September 5 – 10am-2pm- Longmont Main Street Chalk Festival September 12 – 5pm-8pm- Art Market and Music- Come enjoy some outdoor music, artist booths and film shorts projected on the walls. Social distancing, mask wearing and safety regulations will be followed throughout all events.
