Frankie Chavez Biography
Frankie Chavez’s music mixes different types of sounds, reflecting all the musical influences he encountered while traveling the world. The result is a kind of Blues/Folk, with atmospheres ranging from clean to rough or psychedelic rock n roll. Though it’s easy to recognize different musical influences (Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Kelly Joe Phelps, Ry Cooder) it’s hard to define his music in a single word. In 2009, Frankie released the single “The Search”, choose to be the official song for Rip Curl Pro Search 2009 and participated on the original soundtrack, from the documentary film “Pare, Escute, Olhe”, by Jorge Pelicano. In March 2010 Frankie Chavez released his first EP produced by Optimus Discos, an initiative that supports emerging projects of the Portuguese musical scene. The song “I Don’t Belong” is also part of the compilation album “Novos Talentos Fnac 2010” that gathers songs from the most promising Portuguese talents. In January 2011 he finishes the recording of his first album entitled “Family Tree”, produced, recorded and mixed by Nelson Carvalho in Valentim de Carvalho Studios (Paço d´Arcos), which has the participation of several musicians. In May 2012 the album is released in Germany and Netherlands (by Broken Silence) with Frankie's first E.P. as bonus. Rock n Roll / Blues / Folk
