Kelly Kenning Biography

Back in 1982, Kelly Kenning was a 12-year-old kid from Alice, Tx, riding around in the back seat of his parents car, listening to the sounds of Country Music coming through the back speakers, singing at the top of his lungs, to the tunes of some of his favorite singers like George Strait, Johnny Rodriguez, Freddy Fender, Kenny Rogers, Vern Gosdin, Moe Bandy, and Alabama when they came on the Radio. He developed a love for the sound of Steel Guitars and Fiddles in those days, and when given the chance to sing "Lucille" with a Piano player at a Whataburger Convention in Riodosa, New Mexico, He received a standing ovation, and the passion to become a Country Music Entertainer was born.
Shortly After, He began taking guitar lessons and sitting in with various bands playing rhythm guitar as a guest from the invitation of Steel Guitarist Bill McCumber. Then, at age 14, Kelly formed his first band "Wildfire" and met Songwriter Wade Duncan and began writing and recording music. His first song "Love's Not A Game" was debuted in 1986 on KBIC Radio in Alice, Tx. He played with the band throughout his High School years till the group disbanded in 1989. He went to work as a Rhythm Guitarist and Back up Vocalist with Jerry& The Ruf Nex from 1989-1991
Kelly started his second band "The Rockinghorse Riders", named after a song he had Co-written, in 1991. The Band became popular traveling to places ranging from McAllen to San Antonio, Laredo to Corpus Christi, and Del Rio to Beaumont and began opening shows for many Artists like Conway Twitty, Joe Stampley, Lorrie Morgan, Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chesnutt, Doug Stone, The Bellamy Brothers, Rick Trevino, and Johnny Rodriguez, just to name a few. That same year
he began taking Vocal Coaching with Debbie Beinhorn, who was training Artists Clint Black and Shake Russell at the time, at The Singers Workshop in Houston, Tx.
In the Summer of 1992, Kenning made his first trip to Nashville. Traveling with his Vocal Coach, Debbie Beinhorn and Songwriter
Wade Duncan, They met up with Producer Pat McMakin at The Soundshop Studio and laid down tracks for EP "Introducing Kelly Kenning".
After years of playing the Dance Halls and Honkytonks, and with the encouragement from several Industry Veterans, Kelly decided to make the move to Nashville in 1996. He wasn't there long before he started
meeting people, and became friends with several of his Songwriting Heroes like David Chamberlain, Royce Porter, Jim Vest, Earl Clark,
Gerald Smith and more. After working jobs at The Tennessean on a Paper Route, and driving a Van for Music Producer Bud Logan at a Wholesale Florist Distributor , Kelly took a gig on Lower Broadway at Nashville's World Famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge where he played and sang 4 nights a week with some of the Top Road Musicians in town. He continued to write songs for his Catalogue and sing demos during the days while playing the late shift at night.
In 2004, Kelly co-Produced and recorded his album "The Ride Of My Life" with David Chamberlain, Tony Ramey, and Trey Matthews before
moving back to Texas to help his Father with the family business. That album included the Songs "She Beat The Cheat Out of Me', "Daylight Wasting Time", and "Pure Strait Country" that made their way across the Texas Music Airwaves. In 2007, He recorded and shot Music
