Crimson Cay Biography

Crimson Cay is a rock band based out of Prince Edward County, ON, formed in 2017 when singer/songwriter Griffin McGill secured an opening show for the legendary David Wilcox. The lineup solidified in 2019, with Claud Northey on lead guitar, Sam Alain on bass/keys, and Lucas Redwood on drums. Since formation, they have played countless shows across Ontario, predominantly in the Belleville-Kingston region, although they have also made multiple appearances at renowned Toronto venues The Horseshoe Tavern and Cameron House.

As of now, they have over 50 original songs (and 200+ covers) in their repertoire and have cultivated an intricate, but powerful, sound. Having learned a trick or two from Ray Manzarek of The Doors, Alain recently combined the roll of bass and keyboards into one, vastly expanding both the versatility and depth of the band’s sound. Drawing influence from other favourites, such as the Beatles, Fleet Foxes and Civil Wars, vocal harmonies are at the forefront of Crimson Cay’s sound, with all four members working towards fronting their own songs.

The band is in the midst of pre-production for their self-titled debut album, with a tentative release date of Summer 2021. All but one of the twelve original songs were penned by McGill over the last six years, and more recently, were handpicked by everyone as being capable of providing the most well-rounded glimpse into their current sound.
