Tord Gustavsen Trio Biography
The Tord Gustavsen Trio consists of Tord Gustavsen (piano), Harald Johnsen (bass) and Jarle Vespestad (drums).
The trio members are among the most in-demand players on the intriguing Norwegian 'extended jazz'-scene. They are also known from other projects including performance on albums and live with Norwegian Jazz singer Silje Nergaard, the bands Supersilent, Farmer Market, Stillhouse, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Mahsa Vahdat, Solveig Slettahjell, Arve Henriksen, Tore Brunborg, Arvvas, and several others.
Tord has released nine albums under his name with trio, quartet and extended ensemble line-ups. The most recent album 'Opening' features the current trio line-up; with Jarle Vespestad on drums and Steinar Raknes on bass.
Their second album The Ground entered the Norwegian sales charts and became the no. 1 selling album in Norway in its second week. The album has also sold well in several other territories, including the USA, UK and France.
