About this concert
Put yourself in the Holiday Spirit and help support the Academy Theatre by enjoying a dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol. Bring your inner Scrooge and be prepared to see the story in a whole new light! Join us for a good laugh at Scrooge's expense and recharge before the holidays. This show is directed by long-time Academy actor and director Szabina Kitchen and assisted by production manager Janine Mitchell, herself a long-time Volunteer. This updated take on this classic show features well-known performers in our community: Scott McLeod, Kelly Mitchell, Rhys Warren, Grayson Avery and more! A Christmas Carol was written in 1843 by Charles Dickens. After visiting the northern industrial town of Manchester, England, Dickens was struck by the poverty and delivered a speech about the necessity of educating very poor children. This book was his favourite novel, and every year, across the world, this story is read in packed churches, theatres and auditoriums.
