After touring the UK and Ireland in 2019 with his most technically ambitious stage production to date, this time Ford is packing away his terrifying array of triggers and loop machines and building a show around his classic songwriting and musicianship, presenting career highlights in a series of stripped-back, intimate performances. Ford's ability as a songwriter has given rise to a 20-year career during which he has written UK top 40 singles and international number ones and won France's most prestigious musical award, while never compromising his gift for timeless melody and eloquent lyricism. David Ford began his music career as the frontman of punk/pop/rock band Easyworld, releasing two albums before leaving to pursue a solo career. His subsequent first batch of demos and accompanying video for the anthemic State of the Union made Ford the subject of a transatlantic record industry scramble to secure the rights to release his debut album. Five critically acclaimed albums later and he has carved out his own unique niche in the modern musical landscape. Now working as a truly independent artist, Ford cares little for promotion, instead building his audience on the strength of his material and an ever-changing, innovative live show. Every tour is different. The only guarantee is that each performance will carry the same level of commitment and intensity. The result is a live spectacle described by The Guardian as 'unmissable'. As well as playing sold-out headline shows on both sides of the Atlantic, he has toured with and supported artists such as Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ray LaMontagne, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Gomez, Aqualung, Richard Ashcroft, Suzanne Vega, Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson and Jakob Dylan. Despite his many talents as a live performer, it is perhaps as a songwriter that David Ford is held in the highest regard. Often praised for his lyrical dexterity and willingness to tackle matters of politics and current affairs, Rolling Stone commended his 'Genuine depth and striking authority', while The Telegraph described his work as 'Smart, angry, witty, emotional songs, delivered with raw-throated passion.' His debut album, I Sincerely Apologise for All the Trouble I've Caused, was included in both The Times and Word Magazine's top ten albums of the year. His records have achieved number one slots on iTunes, his videos streamed over a million times, and in 2014 he received the French Grammy award for best original song. Ford's masterful songwriting, powerful live performances and utter distaste for self-promotion have helped cultivate a passionate, devoted fan base that exists something like a secret society. His 2020 tour dates provide the perfect opportunity to join up. 'Unmissable' ????? The Guardian "One of Britain's best." ????? The Times 'Puts everything into every word.' The LA Times 'David Ford is the eternal thrill of a young man going way too far and pulling it off.' Word Magazine

David Ford Biography

As the LA Times said in January 2007 'David Ford digs down deep in the heart-and-soul tradition: an English and male Lucinda Williams? He puts everything into every note, every word.'

David Ford recorded his debut album 'I Sincerely Apologise For All the Trouble I've Caused' on his own in his cellar flat in Eastbourne during 2005 thinking he was just "doing a bunch of demos". However, the strength of these recordings led to magnoliaMAM taking him on for management and shortly thereafter licensing the 'demos' as a finished album to Independiente for the UK and then, in April 2006, to Columbia Records in New York for the USA and the 'rest of the world'.

The album has now been widely acclaimed and featured in the best of lists for 2006 in the LA Times, The Sunday Times, The New York Post, The Word and The Toronto Star - who said 'you have to go back to Dylan's 'Idiot Wind'/'Blood on the Tracks' to find such an impressively sustained, bile-soaked round of invective'.

He has toured extensively in the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia during 2006. When performing live David makes use of a 'looping pedal' which allows him to build up layers of vocals, guitars, percussion and keyboards to create extremely powerful and beautiful layers of sound; most notably when playing the song "State Of The Union". (live footage can be seen on both his myspace page and his web site - www.myspace.com/davidford & www.davidford.mu)

2007 saw the release of his critically aclaimed, yet widely ignored, album Songs For The Road and has spent the most of 2008 in the US promoting it.

Currently 'taking a break' in the UK before resuming his never-ending tour of the States David has found himself without a label and has been "accidently" making a new record which he describes as being "barely listienable" and "like babies screaming and the sound of broken glass".

David Ford's musical honesty and passionately melodic songwriting has seen him compared to the likes of Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, James Taylor and Elton John.

If you like David Ford, it's also well worth looking up the band he used to be in, Easyworld. Similarly melodic and heartfelt and almost as good.
