Tom Cunliffe

The songs speak of dirt roads, wild dogs and burning blood. The sound fuses 60s folk poetry with classical piano and minimalist hooks. Tom Cunliffe has been touring for a decade, taking his lilting voice and crafted lyrics to places as diverse as London, Oamaru, Barcelona, Takaka, Auckland, Wellington, Berlin and the rolling wheat fields of southern Italy. He’s toured with the likes of Reb Fountain & Delaney Davidson, and recorded with The Yarra Benders (Marlon Williams). The two full length albums currently available at record stores will soon be joined by a third. It will be released later this year, but you can be one of the first to hear the new songs, live and in an intimate setting. Dave Khan will open the evening with a selection of songs both beloved and underappreciated. The ones you haven't heard, you'll wonder why. And the others – you'll wonder why you never heard them like this.
