DRET 75 Biography

Exploding into 2016, the future is looking bright for Chicago rockers DRET 75. Members Brian Donnelly, Jonathan Box, and Cameron Box have a musical adventure that they want YOU to be apart of! The band started during the summer of 2009. This was only months after ex frontmen Jonathan, from Sweet Dreams Autumn, and Brian, of The Obvious, both left their vocal positions from their pop punk bands. Combining forces, creating somewhat of a super or dynamic duo, Brian and Jon went on under the name "The After Party". After a few shows as TAP, and days within owning the rights to the name, the current group, The After Party, won the battle forcing Jon and Brian to change the name to Indecent Exposure. From there on out Brian and Jonathan took first place in the 2010 College of Dupage battle of the bands, signed to a independent record label, Released 3 EPs, and swept roaring crowds supporting acts such as: Freshman 15, Lucky Boys Confusion, Just Left, Squid The Whale, Major League, The Alumni Club, Draft Week, The Scissors, A Kidnap In Color, The Highlife, and many more at famous Chicagoland concert venues, The Metro, Congress Theatre, Penny Road Pub, and The Elbo Room to name a few with their infamous punk rock sound. Although Indecent Exposure was due to release their first 9 song LP entitled "Don't Get Caught" in spring of 2010, the first namless EP with local hits "Action" and "Death by Stereo" are still floating around local chicagoland diskmen. They have also played some of Illinois's Premiere entertaimnent festivals such as: The Kankakee County Fair, The Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, The Rock Island Grand Prix, The Red Cross Run For Relief Rockford, IL edition, Local Music Revolution 1 and 2, The Evolution Music Festival, and many more. Dret 75 has also been announced on many Illinois based radio stations such as Rockford, IL's 105.7 and Chicago's Q101.1 (Now Q87.7), Along with various Highschool and College stations. 2011 brought Indecent Exposure into a split in direction, during this time drummer Jon Burns left the group. Brian and Jon Box formed a side project during the hiatus of Indecent Exposure called "Seized The Day" This was a hard punk/ post hardcore band. In the late summer of 2011 Seized The Day Recorded a debut 6 song EP called "The Perfect LIfE" at Dennis V's home studio (ex The Obvious lead guitars). 2012. The new year brought even more change for Seized The Day as drummer Jon Burns joined Seized The Day. With this 3 piece line up, STD went into Crystal Recorder in Lombard, IL. to record a 9 song LP titled "Fake Friends & Stupid Trends". This was a post hardcore punk CD recorded with a $3,000 budget on analog tape. After FF&ST was released STD went on to perform local shows around the Will and Lake County areas of Illinois getting used to a alternative music scene from the pop punk bit they would frequent. Early summer of 2012 drummer Jon Burns left Seized The Day, forever putting an end to the side project. Jon Box and Brian Donnelly decided to continue their pop punk musical adenture where they left off, but with a name change to Dret 75. During 2012 the band released a 12 song mixtape titled "Highschool" with many songs from their past 3 records, Including the 2010 party record "Don't Get Caught" Feat. The Summer Anthem, Dreaming, High Society, and Boy a Girl and a Broken Heart. During the spring of 2013 Dret 75 finished recording their first CD as a band since 2010 titled "Namaste". This was Steve Knecht's Debut on drums. Namaste was engineered and mixed by Corey Kauzlarich "Scott", Produced by Corey and Dret 75, along with being Mastered by Matt Good (From First To Last, D.R.U.G.S., Kitfysto). Throughout the summer of 2013 Dret 75 performed prominently in Chicago's bar scene as a pop punk 3 piece covering fan favorites such as Blink 182's "All The Small Things". The fall of 2013 brought Dret 75 some new opportunities through corporate performances and acquired Cameron Box as a 2nd guitarist and 3rd vocalist. With this 4 piece line up, Dret 75 made their way into Crystal Studio in Lombard Illinois to record a 12 song CD entitled "Common Ground". This politically charged anthem for nation was shelved due to a line up change. Spring of 2014 Dret 75 recruited local Chicago land drummer Ben Andrews. With talent and experience (He guest drummed for Four Year Strong) this new 4 piece hit the road and started taring up the local scene. Shortly after this new line up Dret 75 was picked up by local record label Thrifty Records in the spring of 2014. By the summer of 2014 Dret 75 had performed multiple shows and won 3rd place at the 2014 Harvard Milk Days Festival with many more dates left on the line up. By fall of 2014 Dret 75 recorded their first single under Thrifty Records entitled "Crash & Burn". Spring of 2015 brought Dret 75 the opportunity to organize a benefit concert for the Alzheimer Association, donating all of the ticket money to the charity. Dret 75 went back into the studio in the early summer of 2015 to record their 2nd single with Thrifty Records entitled "Kittycatz". This single was shelved due to a change in direction of the band. Dret 75 started performing more artistic forms of rock that were vastly different from the Pop Punk they were currently creating. Late summer of 2015 Dret 75 began a writing break of completely new music.
