Vocalist/guitarists Sean Doyle and Ben Shooter and bassist Clay Hakes, all met in college in New Orleans and found common ground in influences like Violent Soho and Car Seat Headrest. Drummer Fox Capone, originally from Nashville, completes The Bummers lineup with a progressive metal-influenced style that proves endlessly versatile. In summer 2018 the band released their debut album A Very Exciting Life, recorded with the help of some of their local punk rock heroes - Mike Saladis of Donovan Wolfington and Matt Seferian of Pope helped engineer and produce the album in their studio The Palace . A Very Exciting Life set the tone for the Bummers material, with dissonant guitars and lyrics about science fiction dystopias. This release was followed up by 2019s Dairy Beach EP and a string of standalone singles, a few of which were recorded on the road during the bands 2019 Mass Consumption Party tour of the east coast. The Bummers continued to perform local shows and smaller scale tours until their 2020 schedule was forcibly cleared due to covid 19. For a moment the individual members of the band shifted focus to solo projects, covers, and home recording, but ultimately the band regrouped, releasing a new single (Quitman), performing a set on Chris Chaos Art Garage livestream, and beginning work on the recording of their second full-length album, set for release in summer 2021.

The Bummers Biography

The Bummers are the New Orleans band you need to sing you the bleak truths of the universe. Vocalist/guitarists Sean Doyle and Ben Shooter and bassist Clay Hakes, all originally from the northeast, met in college in New Orleans and found common ground in their love of darker and heavier music. Drummer Fox Capone, originally from Nashville, completes The Bummers’ lineup with a progressive metal-influenced style that proves endlessly versatile.

In summer 2018 the band released their debut album A Very Exciting Life, recorded with the help of some of their local punk rock heroes - Mike Saladis of Donovan Wolfington and Matt Seferian of Pope helped engineer and produce the album. A Very Exciting Life set the tone for the Bummers material, with dissonant guitars and lyrics about science fiction dystopias.

This summer The Bummers are back with their new EP Dairy Beach - a collection of six nihilistic summer bops. On this EP the band explores a vision of the classic millennial experience, singing about nostalgia for simpler times from childhood, struggles with depression, lack of personal agency, and the bleak emptiness of outer space.
