Lady Lark Biography
Minneapolis’s Lady Lark is a beacon of confidence.
"I’m not typically the kind of person that’s going to be seen as one who’s talking about being sexy. It’s a little bit unexpected,” she laughs. “But being Lady Lark, I’ve surprised a lot of people with my confidence.”
Similarly, Lady Lark’s forthcoming album Permission seeks to drum up self-assurance in its listeners. Through shiny, vigorous disco and R&B stylings that give everyone license to experience pleasure, it’s a starkly entertaining audio experience – one that would sound equally as appropriate bounding through your car stereo on a summer evening as it would in a nightclub. Written as an antidote to a heavy-hearted scene, it’s Lady Lark’s love song to her listeners, through which her passion for her music becomes ever more apparent in her sleek tunes and her monumental, unmissable live shows.
Her popularity swelled immeasurably in 2018; she played Minneapolis’s famed First Avenue Nightclub three times, collaborated with Har Mar Superstar, named City Page’s Best R&B Artist and performed at the massive annual Basilica Block Party festival. Her unforgettable live shows have made her a staple in the Minneapolis scene. Now, she’s preparing to move to a nationwide stage in 2019, which is on track to be an even bigger year for Lady Lark -- one you won’t want to miss.
Stay tuned for Permission, which is slated for release on May 10th.
