BIO: Described as having a calm and infectious nature, South East Queensland’s MUFASSA gets his inspiration from artists like Archie Roach & Paul Kelly, some of Australia’s greatest story tellers through music. Over the past 4 years, MUFASSA has been refining his skills as a singer/songwriter/storyteller, all the while travelling the country in his caravan and raising a family on the road. One of the original front men of ‘The Floating Bridges’, Dale Mallett (aka MUFASSA) is also the songwriter for ‘MUFASSA & The Pride’. This smooth 'Coast to Country' Roots band are drenched in dance floor rhythms, drawing traditional reggae influence, boasting vibe-a-licious hook riffs, fleshy bass lines and silky 3-part vocal harmonies, hinting to the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Paul Simon and Mike Love. Fresh on the scene in 2018 ‘MUFASSA & The Pride’ had break out performances at Wintermoon Festival (QLD), Maleny Music Festival & Rock Steady Ska Festival (WA), building an organic following across the country while in the studio recording their debut EP. In 2019, the band released this EP titled ‘Follow Me’, with each of the 4 tracks gaining National airplay and the title track ‘Follow Me’ reaching No.5 on the Regional Amrap Charts. The ‘Follow Me’ EP Tour brought key festival appearances at Wallaby Creek (Cooktown, QLD), Caloundra, Peregian Originals, Whitsunday Reef Festival, Ningalens Reef Festival (Central West WA) along with a solo leg spanning through Regional QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA & WA. ‘FOLLOW ME’ EP ‘FOLLOW ME’ (feat. Jess Lean) delivers a raw, honest story of soul searching & reaching out for love and support through some of life’s toughest times…and we’ve all had a few! ‘BLUE SKY’ captures life by the ocean, where the sun, surf and sand play an integral part towards one’s wellbeing. With its 60’s/70’s surf guitar tones you suddenly feel you’re riding the waves of Endless Summer, leaving all your expectations by the door and simply living each moment for what it’s worth. ‘MUFASSA & The Pride’ stamp their unique coastal dub reggae sounds throughout this track, led by front man Dale Mallett’s (aka MUFASSA) strong yet dreamy vocals. Recorded with Brian Goodworth (BMusic) at Big Rock Studio’s, situated at the base of Mt Coolum on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, the ‘FOLLOW ME’ EP tells a story of life on the Sunshine Coast, from the beaches to the bush, full of flavour. In late 2019, MUFASSA performed an intimate live solo show for ‘Back Door Jam Sessions’, verifying his unique ability to convey real and heartfelt stories that connect with audiences on a grassroots level. 2020 sees a wealth of new music on the horizon through both band and solo platforms, including ‘Down the Road’, the band’s latest sonically pleasing release. Exploring darker textures, this song tells a tale of venturing through the Nimbin Mardigrass Festival, losing yourself in sensation, floating on bush and bass. ‘MUFASSA & The Pride’ continue their tour in 2020 with shows in WA, NT & QLD.
