After playing regularly around Adelaide in 2002, the band signed to Australian label, Dot Dash Recordings with representation from Remote Control Records. In 2004, they released their first EP, Wolf & Cub with rave reviews. On the strength of two EPs, the band signed to international label 4AD in September 2005 and played in a string of London shows including shows with The Breeders. On the strength of these releases the band toured with acts like TV on the Radio, The Killers, Wolfmother, Primal Scream, Queens of the Stone Age (handpicked by Josh Homme) and Death from Above 1979; appeared on the line-ups of multiple national festivals; embarked on numerous nationwide tours of Australia as well as untertaking various international tours across Japan, Europe and the US. In 2006 the debut album, ‘Vessels’ was released and met with critical aclaim. The album was bestowed Album of the Week by popular alternative radio station Triple J in September and later went on to be nominated for Best Independent Release at the 2007 ARIA Music Awards. In April 2009 Wolf & Cub released their second studio album, Science and Sorcery which peaked at No. 8 on the ARIA Hitseekers Albums Chart. In 2010 the album was licensed to international label Last Gang Records and released internationally later that year. In 2013 they released their third album, Heavy Weight (13 September 2013), it was recorded and produced by the band, and mixed by Burke Reid (The Drones, PVT). 2019 will see the release of their long overdue fourth album and this upcoming release marks the next chapter in their development as they prepare to release a body of work that has been independently produced and financed entirely without the financial support of a label, a first for the band. The next release will be their first in 6 years and first under the new partnership with Part Time Records / Remote Control Records.
