Den verdensberømte danske jazzbassist og komponist Chris Minh Doky kommer til Skive!
Siden han som 6-årig begyndte at spille klaver, har musikken været en afgørende del af Chris Minh Dokys liv. Han skiftede senere til bas og flyttede i en ung alder til New York, hvor han opdaget af legenden Mike Stern. Andre stjerne fulgte og oplærte den unge dansker; John Scofield, Ryuichi Sakamoto og David Sanborn, Michael Brecker mv. Som 51-årig kan Chris Minh Doky se tilbage på en imponerende og alsidig karriere, der bl.a. har budt på Grammy-nomineringer, en række internationale album (bl.a. på det legendariske Blue Note-label), medlemskab af jazzfunk-supergruppen The Electric Nomads, et stort samarbejde med Sanne Salomonsen, to albums med hans bror Niels Lan Doky, klassiske kompositioner og arbejde med salmer og den danske sangskat i trioen New Nordic Jazz samt et ridderkors.

Chris Minh Doky’s deft creativity has moved his bass playing from the rhythmic ballast of a piece, right to the forefront by enticing solo melodies from his instrument.
The journey of his musical career began in the realm of jazz with his matchless sound as the vehicle taking, him to new musical territories as a solo artist. Electric or acoustic, his accomplishments have spanned genres and broadened personal musical contexts so the solo voice of his instrument delivers an individual, natural feel in expression and impression.
In his New Nordic Jazz project, he explores the enigma of a compelling Scandinavian storytelling tradition. Concurrent with that, he fronts The Electric Nomads with unbridled, funky jazz with a rock edge.
Doky expresses himself with the bass as the solo instrument with a direct link to the Danish bass tradition. By bringing his heart and soul into each new challenge, Doky has emerged as the bass soloist of note.
And someone did take note: Queen Margrethe II of Denmark knighted Doky in 2010 for his contributions to the arts, making him a distinguished member of the Royal Order of the Dannebrog.
Besides being a solo artist, Chris Minh Doky has been part of legendary bands, lead by such as Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Brecker Brothers, Michel Camilo and many others.
