The Knight of Jazz is embarking on his first tour of Denmark in over a decade (Rescheduled due to Corona for September 10-October 24, 2020). “NIELS LAN DOKY 20/20” will visit 16 cities with his Danish trio - including two of greatest jazz talents to emerge out of Denmark in decades, bassist Tobias Dall and drummer Niclas Bardeleben. Since 2011, this trio has yielded significant attention around the world. Their first album in 2014, “Scandinavian Standards” gained them tours in the US and Asia. They reached new heights in 2019 with the int'l release of “Improvisation On Life” and a performance at San Javier Jazz Festival in Spain that yielded standing ovations and an unprecedented stream of critical acclaim. The Spanish press wrote statements like “Playing from the heart, raising the audience some centimeters above the ground”, “Music that penetrates you deep into the spirit,” “A recital full of beauty” and “Managed to leave the audience in love”. Niels Lan Doky is known as the 'Knight of Jazz', telling the stories of the music and his journey to becoming an global icon of genre. He belongs to an international elite of jazz, has released over 40 albums under his own name and won numerous awards, accolades and gold records. He began his career at age 13 and has since played with many of the greatest artist in jazz. He's performed for the world’s elite, including Pope John Paul II, Roger Moore, a.o.. In 2010, HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark knighted Niels Lan Doky for his contributions to Danish culture. He's given the TEDx Talk "How Jazz Wisdom Will Change Your Life" and released the book “Improvisation - in music, at work and in life” (Gyldendal). His feature film debut, "Between a Smile and a Tear", was released in theaters in 2005. The Knight's new album "River of Time" will be available on streaming services worldwide on April 3rd, 2020.
