Alexis Lynn Biography
@alexislynnmusic
Recognized as a “Top 100” in the 2019 CBC Searchlight Contest, Canadian urban pop artist, Alexis Lynn, has a lot more to say than the average twenty something. With the release of her current single, “Not This Time”, this dynamic young artist displays a maturity beyond her years and owns her power to say what’s on her mind. Her new collection of songs from her debut EP explore everything from relationships to bullying - but in a way that is fresh and unexpected. Her songs tell her story of where it all began and where she is today: strong, confident, self aware, and ready to come into her own.
Alexis’ love of music began as far back as she can remember. Some of her earliest and fondest memories date back to listening to music with her family, singing along to the car radio, and a father who loved to play guitar. So, it wasn’t much of a surprise to her parents when she decided she wanted to be a singer at the age of 9. As she got older, Alexis delved deep into the music of Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, and Alicia Keys, influences that can be heard in her modern pop/R&B sound. And now, the Surrey, B.C. native is prepared to embark on a new journey, releasing her EP in the U.S. market for the first time, a move that is both exciting and nerve-wracking for the young artist.
This project is deep and personal, and her writing reflects that. As you immerse yourself in the mature lyrics of Alexis Lynn, you will find this new body of work explores love, lust, vulnerability, overcoming obstacles, self-awareness, and power with a polished, yet personal sound. “Not This Time” was released in March across all platforms along with her first full length music video, and her second single “Things Get Good” will launch on April 5.
As she relives her life’s moments through song, it’s her hope that her music empowers people as they relate her lyrics to their own life experiences. She recognizes that a catchy chorus or hook can forge an instant bond between her and her listeners, which is one of the reasons she excels at the creative process and continues to develop her sound accordingly.
In addition to writing and creating music, First Nations’ artist Alexis Lynn performs live locally in Canada. She loves the rush of a live audience, and the connection she feels to them is often indescribable. Alexis has her sights set on touring as her popularity increases, exposing a worldwide audience to a side of her not yet seen. Her passion for her artistry has propelled her out of her comfort zone. Tackling the American music scene, learning to navigate a larger market, and gaining radio traction for her singles are all challenges Alexis Lynn welcomes with open arms. Through strong faith and a family that’s encouraged and supported her from the start, she knows this next chapter in her life may very well write itself . . . and she’s taking notes.
