About this concert
Join us for an intimate evening of music with 3 local musical acts who are all donating their time and talent to benefit the SF MARIN Food Bank. All ticket sales and donations collected at the show will be sent to their HQ here in SF where we at SongRise Studios often volunteer. Tickets are $15 for 3 musical acts! For a great cause! In a beautiful space! Win-win-win-win! About The Artists: Ken Newman is a San Francisco-based Singer/Songwriter. In addition to performing with his band, Berkeley Bronx, he regularly does solo acoustic shows throughout the City. His album, “Dreaming of Guns,” produced by Scott Mickelson will be released later this year. Ken also appears on a compilation album entitled, “Blanket The Homeless.” Also produced by Scott Mickelson, this double LP, features Ken, Scott and 13 additional artists, all of whom donated their time and talent to help support Ken’s homeless outreach organization. “Ken’s songs speak the truth even when it’s ugly and harsh, but leave you with a sense that you can create a world of good and kindness.” KenNewmanMusic.com Hither is a San Francisco based duo featuring singer songwriter Suzanne Kramer (The Sugar Ponies, just Suzanne) with instrumentalist producer Mark Jeffery (The Mobile Homeboys, originator of ProTools). Delicate and nuanced, their music blends traditional acoustic instruments with evocative electronic timbres. Sultry vocals with rich harmonies evoke a sense of unabashed vulnerability and intimacy. HitherMusic.com Former San Francisco private detective Donovan Plant spent nearly two decades chasing leads and tailing cheaters before returning to his musical roots. He blends rock, pop and country influences with lyrics inspired by the city. In 2017, Donovan signed with Angel Blossom Records and began work on an EP with Grammy balloted Artist/Producer Scott Mickelson. His EP City Lights was released at the end of 2018 which included a song inspired by San Francisco political graffiti writer, cultural provocateur and political activist Eclair Bandersnatch. In 2019 Donovan began working with the brilliant songwriter/producer Damion Gallegos. DonovanPlantMusic.com About SongRise Studios: From Jasmine - While I have always worked in the field, the very first job I had where I felt entrenched in music community was with OpenVoice Studios, under the tutelage of Sam Whitehouse. It was a big operation with 8 teachers, 200 students, great soul, with a built-in community. When we closed our doors in April 2015, I knew I wanted a way to keep that community going. We had done so much good in terms of being a safe space for singers to learn and grow, I didn't want to leave a void, or lose that environment for myself. So, I decided that my next endeavor in music would be community-driven. I host many student-centered events and provide many opportunities for growth outside of normal "classroom" lessons. My students learn to network and connect with other like-minded people, and quickly find their own footing in the music community. www.SongRiseStudios.com About SF-Marin Food Bank: Our mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. We envision a community where everyone is able to obtain enough nutritious food in a dignified manner to support the health and well-being of themselves and their families. https://www.sfmfoodbank.org/

Hither Music Biography

Hither is a San Francisco based duo featuring singer songwriter Suzanne Kramer (The Sugar Ponies, ♡ just Suzanne) with instrumentalist producer Mark Jeffery (The Mobile Homeboys, originator of ProTools).

Delicate and nuanced, their music blends traditional acoustic instruments with evocative electronic timbres. Sultry vocals with rich harmonies evoke a sense of unabashed vulnerability and intimacy.

“When she sings the title of the song it’s whispery and sensual but she maintains a grip on her interpretation.” —John Apice, No Depression

Suzanne fronted The Sugar Ponies working with multi-platinum producer Ed Stasium (Ramones, Talking Heads, The Smithereens) and A-List drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Keith Urban, Celine Dion) on their record It’s A Sign (2015).

Some of Suzanne’s sold out shows have included Rockwood Music Hall and Union Hall in NYC as well as performances at The Great American Music Hall, Brick and Mortar Music Hall, and the Novato Hopmonk in the SF Bay Area.

Suzanne’s voice is reminiscent of Julie London, Norah Jones, Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) and others, yet with a unique quality that is hers alone. In 2017 she revisited her first musical love with a collection of jazz standards titled When We Fell In Love.

Mark is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist. He’s equally comfortable in the studio and on stage. He has the unique distinction of being the original software developer of the industry standard Pro Tools audio system. He brings a broad range of talents to Hither; various stringed instruments, sampling and synthesis, along with earthy harmony vocals that pair well with Suzanne’s silky voice.
