Description :
Musicien prolifique, après deux albums en trio salués par la critique et des collaborations diverses (Opéra autour de l'univers de James Ellroy sur le label de Radio France, relecture électro funk de la musique de Don Cherry avec "Gary Gritness Acoustronics" entre autres), le saxophoniste français Vincent Thekal propose un retour à ses premiers amours avec ce quintet composé de la fine fleur du jazz belge et européen pour une soirée sous le signe du swing autour d'un répertoire taillé pour l'occasion. Un concert à ne pas manquer !

Réservations obligatoires. Si vous souhaitez assister à l’un de nos concerts en bulle (4 personnes max.), les réservations devront impérativement se faire ensemble afin que nous puissions disposer la salle au mieux. La bulle doit être complète afin d’accéder à la salle. Port du masque obligatoire.

Accès et transports :
Les cyclistes peuvent laisser leur vélo sans se préoccuper, dans l'enceinte de la Jazz Station. Les bus 29 et 351 s'arrêtent à deux pas, à l'arrêt Clovis. Les bus 60 et 63 s'arrêtent à Ambiorix, cinq pas. Le 61 s'arrête à Steurs, trois pas ! Les automobilistes doivent chercher pour se garer, mais ce n'est pas difficile. Le parking le plus proche est à Madou, de là 15 min à pied.

Sal La Rocca Biography
Sal La Rocca is originally from Seraing, Belgium, near LIEGE. He was first a Rock guitarist, but switched to the bass as his instrument of choice after hearing (for the first time) music by several jazz greats. After switching, he taught himself how to play by the age of 23. Over time, he become one of the most “in demand” double bassists in Belgium and in the European theater. Starting in the mid 80’s, Sal has toured and performed with a wide array of musicians on the European continent.
The 90’s saw him expanding his presence with world tours. His list of celebrity musicians he performed with continued to grow, adding well known names like Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Philip Catherine, Dani Klein feat. Vaya Con Dios and Toots Thielemans to his musical resume.

With Sal on this CD is Pascal Mohy: Piano, Jacques Schwarz-Bart: Sax, Lorenzo Di Miao: Guitar and Hans Van Oosterhout: Drums. I like Sal's composing; it give the other musicians some great moments to work on and show what they can do without being over stated. On the Igloo Label this is well deserved 5 star album”
