The Royal Volts Biography

The Royal Volts are a proper rock and roll band hailing from the rocky eastern shore of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Powered by the monstrous backbeat of Quenny Steven’s drums, the guttural thud of bassist Brady Leights and textured by the howling interplay of lead guitarist Wesley Thomas and singer/guitarist Jordan Pirri, The Royal Volts’ sound can be described as classic rock grandstanding with a healthy dose of modern histrionics. Formed in 2011 in a whirlwind of post-secondary piss-fests – and bonded by a work hard/play hard mentality – the band ceaselessly crafted and expanded their sound in the pubs and dancehalls of the merciless Maritime circuit. Following their critically acclaimed and award-nominated debut EP “Enough is Never Enough”, the band once again entered the studio in late 2018 with producer Jon Landry (The Stanfields, The Town Heroes) to record their yet-untitled sophomore recording.

The resulting output has set up a banner period The Royal Volts’ career – having become the first signing of Landry’s new label Ragged Head Records, where together they will unleash a barrage of insidious hard rock jams at times faintly echoing Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden, Thin Lizzy and Red Fang.

A quick glance into the crystal ball will show The Royal Volts assaulting a stage somewhere near you – all nails, blood and vinegar, in other words - a rock band of increasingly rare type.
