Promo Biography
Sebastian Hoff a.k.a. Promo was born on the 12th of April 1976, and started mixing very soon.
When he was 19, he already had a hit on Thunderdome IX - The Revenge Of The Mummy, his alias was Section-8 (together with The Prophet). A second big hit was a remix of the song "Don't Speak", although he did it to bully his brother who played in a band. This song he called 'Shut Up'(Shut Up! / Born Whappie!) was a huge succes, but it was not the style he wanted to go through with.
Promo started to make different hardcore songs, and created his own style; dark and hard. DJ's didn't play them on parties because it was too experimental, but they certainly were loved by gabbers.
His idea was to experiment with hardcore, to mix it again and again until he found something new. Today Promo has his own label called The Third Movement. He started this label with DJ X-Ess and Catscan, but in 2004. the latter two decided to leave The Third Movement to start their own label.
Promo just recently did a mix for the Thunderdome XV Years album.
