About Orm
ORM (eng: serpent) is a long, cold and boneless beast that slithers in the abyss. Both hypnotizingly majestic in its calmness and unpredictable like a storm. It lies dormant for long stretches of time only to suddenly strike without warning or remorse. The serpent appears to be consumed by disgust and darkness, but not seldomly does it moult and moves into the light where it appears almost exalted and beautiful. But there is nothing good, reconciling og merciful about this beast. The serpent is unleashed and it is spreading its venom. ORM and the whole of its being is situated in a mythical cosmos of ancient times, where magic, gods and supernatural creatures inhabited the world as naturally as humans, animals, water and forests. A time where the otherworldly and worldly existed as two mutually dependent dimensions in one cohesive universe. A time where man was forced to face both a natural and a metaphysical superior force - either with submission or confrontation, but often with no prospect of surviving the struggle. This world seems to have vanished many moons ago. Since then, the gods have become one, technology and the individual has prevailed and the once commanding nature and its strange creatures seem to have sunken into a now barren earth. This is only apparently though, an illusion of the self caused by the power and ego of modern man. Beneath the surface, the gods, the beasts and nature are awaiting the moment to arise and once again roam this world and rule mankind. An omen of the forthcoming resurrection is the serpent, this worm, that from time to time appears from the abyss to let the waters and the earth tremble by its sheer power. Soon the serpent will reveal itself fully, spread its venom and thus challenge the proud human kind to battle in order to restore balance in a ruthless cosmos once again. The power of the serpent reveals itself through the sonical expression of ORM - a sound which consists equally of the grand and the direct, of the simple and the complex. The music incorporates epic melodic black metal and its nordic melancholy with a rocking, swinging feel, which through its intense power lends physicality and human shape to the metaphysical subject matter. The intense presence of the music leads the listener into a parallel universe and an eternal age where heaven and earth are inextricably interwoven, where man is wary of the serpent, the gods, the elements and remembers that every part of the universe is connected and each plays a certain role in the eternal cycle that is birth, life and death. A long, boneless, flesh eating beast.
