'Jugalbandi: Hindustani and Carnatic Music in Conversation' Joel Veena, Indian slide guitar, and Gordon Korstange, Carnatic venu, present a concert of jugalbandi, combining the music of both north and south India, using common techniques and similar ragas to create a unique performance that also includes poetry. Both musicians hail from southern Vermont, USA. They will be accompanied on tabla by the host and mastermind of Taalmagic, Anand HS. Anand HS has learned to play the tabla in Delhi during his teenage years and then had to quit right after school. At the age of 33 he reconnected to his passion and has been playing with several groups and individual performers regularly. Currently he is enhancing his knowledge of tabla under the tutelage of Vidvaan Amrutesh Kulkarni Ji (from Bangalore). After working in the IT industry for about 2 decades, Anand quit his job in 2019, to start www.taalmagic.com, a platform dedicated to popularizing Indian Classical Music through a series of intimate baithaks. So far taalmagic has presented 7 successful programs with many more in the pipeline.
