This page represents FOUR artists:
1)Rock group Paloalto is led by singer/songwriter/guitarist James Grundler, a Los Angeles native who named the band not after the northern California city, but rather his preschool from early childhood...
...and, 2) Palo Alto, from Manchester and Leeds, England. Some might say they were an "indie-alternative-experimental-post-rock kind of band"... They were formed in 2001 and released the early LP "All Fall Down". Later years saw the release of the "Still EP" (2002) and "Wades In To Water" (2003) on Manchester's Valentine Records. More recently "Every Way To Fall" has raised it's head. More releases are promised to follow. They can be found at myspace.com/paloaltoband.
... 3) Paloalto also is the name of a rap artist from South Korea. He released a solo album in June 2005 titled "Resoundin'". He also released another album, this time as a duo with another South Korean artist, The Quiett. The album "Supremacy", was released in July 2006.
4) Palo alto est probablement né en 1989 de la rencontre fortuite sur une table d'opération entre une machine à coudre et un parapluie. Certains aimaient Poulenc et l'Ecole de Canterbury, d'autres Ptôse, la scène allemande et la chanson française (Brigitte Fontaine, Gainsbourg), d'autres encore les mélodies hongroises ou les surprises sonores de la bande F.M. gentiment triturées... Cette formation instrumentale se retrouve dans leur première cassette, LE CLOS (1990) qui présente des compositions très "écrites", de nature plutôt mélodique, s'inscrivant dans la mouvance de l'école belge (Made To Measure, Tuxedomoon) avec quelques facettes plus noires, rappelant Art Zoyd ou Univers Zéro et d'autres plus distancées, lorgnant du côté des Residents ou de Renaldo and the Loaf.
Clarinette, saxophone, basse électrique, synthétiseur et boîte à rythme furent les premiers instruments adoptés par le groupe.
