Louise Bichan Biography
Orcadian fiddle prodigy Louise Bichan has been internationally awarded and acknowledged for her work in Scottish and Appalachian String Band musics. Bands such as Fara, Rachel Sermanni, Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings and her most current project Corner House have benefitted and thrived due to her creativity, charisma, and arduous studies at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music.
Bichan currently tours extensively with her own band, duo Hildaland and Boston-based Corner House. Of the band, Bruce Molsky writes“Corner House’s music points straight in the direction of where roots music is headed, and it’s a great and bright destination.”
In 2016 Bichan released a solo record boasting an impressive display of family linage and history, to critical acclaim. As you open the fold, not only does one find music but a grand tail of wonder following the trials and adventures of her late Orcadian grandmother, Margaret Sarah Tait.
