Thumper Biography

There are three bands called Thumper.

One is straight from Somerville, Boston's blandest suburb, Thumper erupted with a maniacal mix of ska, metal, and punk. Formed in 1991, the band spent the last decade of the 20th century spreading its gospel of chaos through live appearances and recorded material. Thumper, not satisfied with the normal, consistently hammered audience members throughout the country with their unique songs, taking on such subjects as joblessness, mass murder, the force, bad love, ignorance, space aliens, and television. And managing to sell over 20,000 records doing so. Yes. Boston's bastard children of ska, Thumper is the musical equivalent of a steel cage death match between Judas Priest and The Specials. No one has been as great since... nor will anyone in the future. Simply put... Thumper was the best at what they did.

The second Thumper is a remixer named Casey Sumpter. He posted 3 remixes on ocremix.org, his most popular being 'Times of Distortion', a remix of the Chrono Trigger classic 'To Far Away Times'.

The third significant Thumper was a 1970s Southern California band consisting of Jimmy Gray Hall, Thomas Wyper, David Plenn, and David St. John. The band recorded several singles through A&M Records and Epic before lead singer Hall went on to create an LP for CBS Records titled "Possessed By The Moon."
