About this concert
Corcovado will pay tribute to Rio's Carnival, and will perform bossa novas and sambas that evoke Rio's Carnival. Corcovado is thrilled to feature Santa Monica's own Natalie Jacob as guest vocalist, who has been described as "an exceptionally talented vocalist whose voice is finely tuned and seasoned, that showcases her clear delivery of lyrics." Natalie most recently performed at the Segerstrom Center as part of a summer KJAZZ festival, and regularly performs at Pip's on La Brea, and will soon be releasing an album. Corcovado is proud to have super talented musicians Andy Applegate on drums, and Rob Fresco on bass.

Corcovado is a band started by Nicole Thomas and David Robinson, who have been collaborating musically since 2015. Their extensive repertoire includes original tunes, jazz standards, bossa novas, swing tunes, and pop tunes which they perform either as a duo or with a full band. The name, Corcovado comes from the Brazilian mountains overlooking Rio de Janeiro, which Jobim captured in the song “Corcovado.” It symbolizes their love of Brazilian music and great music in general. www.corcovadotheband.com/

Corcovado Biography
Corcovado is a jazz/latin band started in 2015 by David Robinson, who is the band's musical director, and keyboard player., and Nicole Thomas, vocalist. It has since expanded into a collective focused around jazz and Brazilian bossa novas and sambas, playing regularly in clubs and private parties, notably playing on a regular basis at Trip Santa Monica's Tuesday Jazz Night.
We are thrilled to be featuring Santa Monica's own Natalie Jacob as guest vocalist, who has been described as "an exceptionally talented vocalist whose voice is finely tuned and seasoned, that showcases her clear delivery of lyrics." Recently, she has had the privilege to sing with the Scotty Barnhart quintet, the Paul McDonald Big Band and the Shea Welsh Trio; and has shared the stage with such illustrious musicians as Clayton Cameron, James Leary, Roy McCurdy and Trevor Ware.
We are very thrilled to feature Danny Meyer on jazz guitar. Danny is the leader of the Del Rey Community Jazz band, and youth bands in the Los Angeles area. Danny studied music at Tufts University, and the Berklee College of Music.
On keyboard, David Robinson, who has been studying with jazz master Tamir Hendelman, is particularly fond of Brazilian jazz, and the great American songbook. David co-founded the band Corcovado with Nicole Thomas in 2015.
On upright bass, Theodore "Teddy Bang" Okasinski. Teddy plays around town in different genres ranging from Jazz to Latin to Reggae and R&B with his trio, the Teddy Bang trio. Teddy studied both music and education while in college at the University of Michigan.
On drums, Andy Applegate, a Los Angeles based jazz drummer, and a lifelong student of music. Originally from New Jersey, he graduated from the jazz studies program at Temple University in Philadelphia. Andy now dedicates most of his time to playing jazz and Latin jazz.
On percussions, Lauri Reimer, a musician and entrepreneur who runs Music Magique Promotions, a prominent marketing, event promotion, PR, and Artist Development company firm. Notably, Lauri regularly performs with Doctor Wu, and The Tribe.
