Dug G Biography

Jean Hubert VALCOURT, known as DUG G, was born on September 10, 1982 in Port-de-Paix.
His father, Eugene Duguay Michel Valcourt, was a photographer, radio host, electrician and former
director of the Office of EDH in Port-de-Paix. His mother was an office secretary. DUG G is the eldest of
five children. He has two brothers and two sisters. From the age of 12, his father being paralyzed, their
grandmother and their courageous mother, willing to sacrifice for her children, raised them. Married
and divorced, DUG G is the proud father of two children Sael and Carenne.
Former student of the school of “Les Frères de l’Instruction Chrétienne Saint Joseph” of Port-de-Paix,
DUG G will enthrall for broadcasting and music at a very young age. However, his father, very strict, did
not allow him to rap. After attending the College Notre-Dame de Lourdes and during school elections as
a seventh grader, they discover his talent as a rapper. After his performance, the “Cosmic Rap Boys”
group of young people from the college selected him. His father was ill, his mother had forbidden him
to do music, but in their absence, he repeated at home with his other classmates. His first adventure
was short-lived as it was forced to leave the group because of his mother's demands.
With Lova Man and Young MC, DUG G founded his second group "Lova Man and His Crew" which was
very popular in Port-de-Paix. Unfortunately, some members had to leave the country to go study in
universities in the USA. He made many attempts to recreate it, but it was in vain. Then, DUG G created
"OSMOZ" with Alkali, Fenix ​​and Snoopy. Wanting to follow in the footsteps of his father, DUG G
attempted to integrate broadcasting. He started as an operator at radio 4VTS in Port-de-Paix and he
then co-hosted "Etincelle Show" along with Gregory Poitevien at Radio Etincelle also in Port-de-Paix.
DUG G moved to Port-au-Prince to begin university studies. In July 1999, he will create as a radio host a
musical show "Rap'Rocher" on the air at radio "Planèt Kreyòl" to promote Creole rap. This show was
one of the most listened to at that time and DUG G experienced his greatest success in the world of rap.
"Rap'Rocher" has contributed with other Hosts, MCs and beat makers in raising the popularity of Creole
rap at the end of 2004.
Together with Knaggz and other friends, DUG G began his adventure with the group “RockFam Lame a”.
In early 2005, the creole rap co-founder of “Rockfam Lame a”, Dug G had established himself as one of
the giants of the rap movement in Haiti. He was one of the emblematic figures of the group and one of
the most popular rappers of the movement. He made three albums with the band.
Former President DHAC Record for Haiti's section, the label that produced the first album of RockFam in
2007 "Saw paka konprann", “Yon Lot Vizyon” and “Pa Gen Pase’n” are the other two he did with
Rockfam. DUG G participated in five carnivals songs with the group and also participated in their
success. DUG G has been very successful both in Haiti and abroad for its various participations in
concerts and festivals. He has collaborated with many other rappers Haitians in Haiti and elsewhere. His
pseudonym DUG G comes from the name of his father Duguay, and the G GRAND referring to his vision.
In 2009, his first solo music video for his hit "Men Vibe la" was a success. In December 2010, DUG G
made the sale signing of his first solo album "Kenbe’m Si’w Kapab” one of the most popular of the time,
with hits such as: « Men Vibe la », « Jou’m Pata La » (Feat. Gazzman Couleur), « 10 Goud Papye »,
« Tankou Manman ».
In 2009, DUG G participated in the film "Les Talents de la rue" under the nickname of "Kenny",
produced by Robenson Lauvince. The film tells the story of a group of young talented rapper who spent

most of their time being insulted for their music. Then one day, they met a patron who opened their
path to success.
In July 2011, there was a divorce between DUG-G and “Rockfam Lame a”. During the same year, he led
the way for reconciliation by posing with one of the biggest music opponents “Izolan”. It was a big step
towards the unification of handkerchiefs Black and Red, symbol of freedom.
Thirsty for music, in August 2012, DUG G produced his first mixtape whose title comes from his first solo
success, "Men vibe la". It included “10 Goud Papye » [remix] Featuring DRZ, Abojah, K-libr, “All my Zoe »
(Featuring O Gun), “Kon’n sa wap di » [Lib kolabo] Featuring Skellet), “ Kenbe’m Si’w Kapab (Remix)

While working on his second solo album, DUG G produce a second mixtape. In July 2013, in
less than a year, he released the "2.0 Reloaded Mixtape”, « I dont like », « Enstwi mantal »,
« PIWO Cypher ». To the surprise of all, on June 19, 2014, DUG G and Bricks (Barikad Crew)
produced one of the most listened songs of the year "Mafia Blood," which announced the
upcoming release of DUG G second album. 2.0 (Reloaded Mixtape) - Dug G – “Bon Komisyon”
(DugMatiste 2) released on 13 Dec 2014. 2014 - Kanaval ak Mafia republiq.
PIWO Records & Mafia RepubliQ (Album) – “Plis Motivation” released on the 26th of December 2015).
2016 - The Remixtape (Mixtape).
On October 2017, it’s the release of the Single with a video of “Anmè Kou Fyel” Featuring izolan.
In 2018, it’s the Single “Esperans” Featuring F Mack; (Video) September 2018. The song entitled “Flanm”
was released in October of the same year. By the end of 2018, PIWO Records & Mafia RepubliQ released
the Album “Ak Fos”. In 2019, DUG G took the tour “Bring It Down” to Brazil.
In 2022, DUG G in collaboration with producer Jeff Wainwright release a new album of seventeen titles
entitled “Sajes Ak pasyans”. It contains such hits as “Selebre” featuring Misie Sadik, Sabine Francoeur
and Jean Bernard Thomas, “Pasyon Mwen”, “Si Tu Veux” with the complicity of Mikaben, Patricia Val
and Duckinss, “Souke’l” with T-Big, “Pou 2022” with Money Mike and Jean Bernard Thomas, “M’fe Rap”
with Money Mike, “Mwen pap Kriye”, “Chak Le’n Fache” with Steevevibe, “2 Lawon” with Lentz Louis,
“Mwen Renmen’w” with Guipson Pierre, “Coupe Cloue”, “Anme Kou Fyel” with Izolan. The flow and the
originaltity of his lyrics stand out. Different subjects are described in different poetic ways that make
DUG G so special. Videos of “Pou 2022”, “Passion Mwen” and “Selebre” have their impact and are well
liked. DUG G is reaching a different musical level in this latest work.
