Anyone who personally knows The Vidos can tell you one thing with utter certainty: they're weird. They talk almost exclusively in fragments of obscure movies. They write songs about exploding cars, exploding shoes, and Bill Clinton... exploding. They lived on a bus for over 200 days after moving from Vancouver to Toronto without a plan (or money). To some, this is stupidity. To all: this is ENTERTAINMENT. And entertain they do. With the firecracker duo of frontman/bassman Brett Douglas + mononymous guitargod Swayzelhoff dancing up a storm as dynamo drummer Nolan Nielsen lays down groove after tasty groove, their live show has truly made this act one to watch in the world of up-and-coming Canadian music.
With the aid of producer Danny Craig (Whale and the Wolf, One Bad Son, The Classy Chassys, Default), The Vidos harness this undeniable funk n' roll energy into razor-sharp cuts like "Perfect Stranger" and "Criminals", drawing comparisons to anything from Rage Against The Machine to Mother Mother to Al Green. The band has so far cracked the top 40 on the Canadian Active Rock chart twice, once in 2016 with "Car Trouble" (off the "8 Min" EP), followed by "Perfect Stranger" in 2017. Their new material, set to release over the course of 2019 + 2020, shows dashes of soul and hip-hop sensibility under layers of fuzzed-out guitars and sharp, sarcastic vocals. Their most recent release, June 2019's "Ice Cream Dream", features Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers + Foo Fighters on organ + synthesizer.
In 2017 the band played two opening slots at The Commodore Ballroom, for Live Nation Presents Age of Electric, and Live Nation Presents Daniel Wesley. In between these two shows the group played a direct support slot, opening for The Pack A.D at CJ's in Kamloops. Going into the summer, the band began recording their newest un-released EP. Riding on the single, the band went on an extensive coast to coast Canadian tour for 2 months, until they finished the tour in October for C-Jay 92's Halloween Howler, where they played alongside: Big Wreck, The Headstones, & One Bad Son.
The Vidos had a number of noteworthy shows in 2016, including a few performances at CMW and opening slots with bands like Pop Evil, JPNSGRLS, and PRISM. They dropped the single "CAR TROUBLE" to radio in early October, featuring spins at CIFM Kamloops, POWER 104 Kelowna, C-JAY 92 Calgary, X-92 Calgary, THE BEAR Edmonton, THE DRIVE Red Deer, KRZQ Reno, & several others. They also received regular rotation at THE WOLF Regina. At the same time "Car Trouble" hit the airwaves, they released the music video, directed by Dave Benedict (Square Egg).

The final show of the tour. The Duncan Showroom was a really cool and unique venue. Vogue Villains made an unplanned surprise appearance as the opening act (not TOO much of a surprise tho, because they played at the last 3 shows). Chase The Bear went all out for the last date and we got a version of Five More Minutes which lasted over 10 minutes!

Chase The Bear Biography
Chase The Bear is a rock and roll band from Vancouver, BC who's music mixes catchy hooks, roaring electric guitars, and hard-hitting rhythms inspired by classic rock with influences of indie, soul, R&B, and pop.
The outfit has been playing in the southern end of the province since 2015, starting by busking on the streets of Victoria after brothers Troy and Leo Gilmore and childhood friends Connor Brooks and Braedan Royer moved from Fort St. John, B.C. with the dream to turn music into a career. They quickly gained recognition for their catchy original music and singer Troy's bluesy, powerhouse voice before picking up keyboardist Kevin Parker and guitarist Jordan Phillips and moving to Vancouver.
Chase The Bear has played over 100 self-booked shows from Victoria to Thunder Bay and everywhere with a stage in between, including a sold-out show opening for The Trews at the Commodore Ballroom. Shortly after the milestone of a show, the band released their debut “Chase The Bear'' EP in 2018, which raised $3000 on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, tripling their modest $1000 goal.
A band of blood brothers, childhood friends, and musical prodigies, Chase The Bear shows unrivaled chemistry on stage with tasty harmonies, duelling guitar solos, and an explosion of talent, passion, and youthful energy, showing that this isn’t a rock n’ roll revival band - Chase The Bear is a whole new animal ready to take the world by storm.
