Time Machine Biography

In the eighties instrumental guitar music was rising in popularity, the label “Shrapnel Records” released several instrumental albums which became very popular, but there was one person who set all these upcoming guitar talents in the shadow: Joe Satriani !

Joe Satriani was the guitar teacher for several current guitar gods like Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett (Metallica). Joe released and still releases a lot of CD’s and DVD’s also with his G3 project, and he is World famous because of that.

In the Netherlands there is a band who plays a tribute to this guitar phenomena, the band is called “Time Machine.”

Time Machine has been started by guitarist Marcel Coenen, who got well known because of his previous band “Lemur Voice” and his current band “Sun Caged”.
Marcel was selected as best rock guitarist of the Netherlands in 1998 and released, next to albums with Lemur Voice, Sun Caged and Form, several CD’s and DVD’s of his own.

Time Machine also features drummer Hans In T Zandt, known from bands like “Vengeance”, “Parris” (Thin Lizzy Tribute) and “Cooper Inc”, Bass player Richard Ritterbeeks, known from amongst others “Volumia!”, “Henk Westbroek” and “The Crox”, and second guitarist Björn Koenen (Loedder).

The band plays a set full of several Joe Satriani classics, you will hear songs like “Satch Boogie”, “Echo”, “Flying In A Blue Dream”, “Summer Song” and “Back To The Shalla Bal”, all played in a very professional way and with a lot of virtuosity.

The complete set which Time Machine plays can take up to two hours and will also feature some songs with vocals (“Big Bad Moon”, “I Believe”, “Ride”).

Time Machine did several very successful gigs already in and outside of The Netherlands, for instance a gig as support for the American super guitarist “Tony MacAlpine” (Steve Vai).
