Merrick's Tusk Biography

Merrick's Tusk are a post-hardcore 4-piece who pull influences from the likes of Rival Schools, Thursday and At The Drive-In. The band formed in 2013 with frontman and guitarist John teaming up with Adam on bass and Tim on drums for the release of their first EP Sonder in 2014. Sam joined on guitar in 2016 following the release of their second EP ‘Regroup & Reform’.

Following the release of R&R Tusk headed out on a tour of mainland Europe, pushing their old Royal Mail van to the limit with a route across Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Luxembourg and The Netherlands. In the UK, they’ve supported the likes of Fangclub, Maps & Atlases, Tellison and Beach Slang and had the pleasure of joining Jonah Matranga (Far, New End Original, onelinedrawing) on stage in late 2018 to tour the 20 year anniversary of Far’s seminal album Water & Solutions.

May 2019 saw the band release their debut album ‘Between the Earth and the Trees’ on Undead Collective Records. The album was recorded with visionary producer Jason Wilson (Dinosaur Pile-Up, Reuben, Fightstar) at Stakeout Studios in London and supported with a sold-out show at Nottingham’s The Bodega. The album release generated positive reviews with their first single ‘Blueprint’ voted as Louder.com’s track of the week amongst a host of positive feedback.

“Between The Earth And The Trees’ is a fantastic release. Within their post-hardcore sound lies roots of math rock, emo and alternative rock, and Jeacock‘s voice at times bears some similarities to that of Rou Reynolds from Enter Shikari. Merrick’s Tusk are most definitely not a band to be overlooked.” Andrew Johnston - Dead Press

Regulars at Nottingham’s own Dot to Dot Festival and Hockley Hustle, Merrick’s Tusk have also received fantastic support from BBC Introducing with radio play for ‘Reform’, ‘Blueprint’ and ‘The Ache’ hitting the airwaves over the past few months.

Merrick's Tusk are now playing various dates across the UK while working on new material.
