Photosynthesizers

Photosynthesizers, aka The Synthesis, is a Hip-Hop Rock Duo out of Richmond, Va. The group consists of its co-founding members, Maurice "Barzencode" (lyricist/vocalist) and Josh Bryant (producer/guitarist). Barz and Bryant's art alliance guitar-rhyme hybrid was formed back in 2009 when they met through a local publication in the group's hometown.  Though the group's two core members have been instrumental to The Synthesis' sound, utilizing Hip-Hop and Rock elements to interpret soul, drum n bass, and other music genres.;  the group in the past has accompanied themselves with a family of musicians for their live shows. Barz multilayered rhyme schemes along with Bryant's hard-hitting production of guitars and synthesizers swings a double-dutch helix of perfect timing. 

​In the winter of 2020, the group will follow up their first 2020 LP, Apollogy, by dropping a series of singles scaling up to their new LP, The World's Fair. The World's Fair is the embodiment of  Josh and Maurice's music journey during the midst of COVID when the group was no longer able to meet in person and had to rely on writing music through file sharing. The album's title is also a tribute to the history of The Worlds International Expos, a wide variety of exhibitions showcasing the future's industrial, scientific, and cultural advances for society. And within two global pandemics ( COVID and Racial Injustice), we can only ask ourselves, what will be our advances that we will contribute towards a better future?
