Heartland Marimba Biography
The mission of Heartland Marimba is to reach many audiences in order to support and advance the marimba, its music, composers, and performers in all ways. This is accomplished through these four components: community outreach, educational experiences, generating new repertoire, and opportunities for professionals.
Heartland Marimba Festival is the organization that celebrates the marimba, its music and performers during a summer and winter holiday period. It employs professionals for concerts with the Touring Ensemble/Quartet, offers academies for students and aspiring performers, and generates new repertoire, publishing many of the compositions it champions.
HMF began in 2014 and is directed by solo marimba artist, Matthew Coley.
