THE 80'S
At the beginning of th 80's, 3 english brothers decided to bring their own patronymic at the bill: "Willcox" was born. In over a decade, they released several albums and set crowds on fire all over Europe, standing out as an internationally recognized and respected band.
The first album " Roll Of Three" was released in 1981 and the second one "Hot Blood" in 1985. From blues to Boogie Rock, these to album were effective, melodic and powerful. Their full potential is however revealed on stage, a power-trio with Sam on the vocals, bass and harmonica ;Terry on the drums and Peter on the guitar: small
line-up but maximal performance.
After 10 years on the road, they shared the stage with Rory Gallagher, Bo Diddley, Dr Feelgood, Scorpions and many more others...
THE 90'S
At the beginning of the 90's, Willcox decided to for a while, each membertaking a different direction. In 1993, Sam signed a contract with Warner. The label didn't skimp on the means, Sam recorded his first solo album in the biggest European studios. The best session musicians were invited: Graham Ward (Paul McCartney's Drummer), Evert Verhees (Joe Cocker's bass player), Kenny Moore (Tina Turner's pianist).
The album was released in the 1994 followed by 2 singles. Sam quickly got uncomfortable with this Gospel Jazz/Blues sang in French and decided to set aside this project and devote himself to composition and album production. Thus, he worked for Joe Cocker, Emma Kelly and other French stars.
It's been a long time since Sam wanted to reunite the band. Time as come, Willcox is back to the roots...
The reunion, back to the roots :
In 2014, Sam decided to reunite the band. After 20 years of silence, the reunion appeared as an obviousness: Willcox was coming back to the roots. The objectives are very simple: release the album, gig as much as possible and above all, find the hot and sweaty atmosphere of a Willcox concert again.
The "new Willcox" line-up is composed of two guitar players:
J-P Chiche and Fabien Le Boedec.
J-P is an international blues-rock guitarist. He shared the stage with Dr Feelgood, Alvin Lee, Maceo Parker, Saxon and many others... After many years accompanying artists, he decided to have a go with Willcox. The pleasure he gets while being on stage is infectious and doesn't leave anyone unmoved.
Fabien is the second guitar player of the "new Willcox". Sam noticed his incredible sense of time during a concert. This young promesing guitarist will bring his energetic and fresh touch to the band.
Camille the drummer, is the last member to join the band. He was chosen for his experience and his metronomic playing.
The reunion promises to be a success. The new album "Gonna get Ya" is now available, a Boogie-Blues with no frills and terribly affective. Sam, J-P, Fabien and Camille want to prove they are a genuine live band, no one will give less than their best.

LES ANNEES 80
C’est au début des années 80 que les trois anglais Sam, Terry et Peter décident de porter en haut de l’affiche leur propre patronyme : “ Willcox ”.
En plus d’une décennie, ils vont enchaîner tournées et albums en s’imposant comme un groupe respecté et reconnu de la scène internationale. Entre blues et Boogie-Rock, ils sortiront deux albums : le premier “ Roll of Three ” en 1983 et le second “ Hot Blood ” en 1985.
C’est cependant sur scène qu’ils révèlent leur véritable potentiel sous la forme d’un power-trio (Sam à la basse, à l’harmonica et au chant, Terry à la batterie et Peter à la guitare).
Line up minimum mais rendement maximum dans cette ambiance “ Hot and Sweaty ”. En plus de 10 ans à écumer la scène internationale, ils ont pu partager l’affiche avec Rory Gallagher, Bo Diddley, Dr Feelgood, Scorpions et bien d’autres...

Au début des années 90, Les Willcox décident de faire une pause, chacun prenant un chemin différent.
En 93, Sammy signe un contrat chez Warner. Le label ne lésine pas sur les moyens, les plus grands studios européens sont mis à sa disposition pour l’enregistrement de son premier album solo.
Les plus grands musiciens de sessions y sont invités : le batteur Graham Ward (Paul Mc Cartney), le bassiste Evert Verhees (Joe Cocker) le pianiste Kenny Moore (Tina Turner). L’album sort en 1994 avec 2 singles dans la foulée. Ce Gospel Jazz/Blues en français ne sera rapidement plus au goût de Sammy qui décide de mettre de côté ce projet pour se consacrer à la composition et à la réalisation. Il a ainsi pu collaborer avec Patricia Kass, Ema Keley, Joe Cocker, Michel Sanchez (Deep Forest).Mais, depuis un bon moment, Sam, a un vieux rêve de reformer WILLCOX.
LA REFORMATION : retour aux sources
En 2014, Sam décide de reformer le groupe.
Après 20 ans de silence, la reformation se présente comme une évidence, un retour aux sources. Les objectifs sont simples: sortir l’album, tourner le plus possible et surtout, retrouver l’ambiance énergique et la sueur des concerts de Willcox! La nouvelle formation de Willcox se verra accompagnée de 2 nouveaux guitaristes, JP Chiche et Fabien Le Boëdec et 1 nouveau batteur Camille Greneron.
JP est guitariste de Blues Rock à la carrière internationale tant sur scène qu’en studio. Il a pu partager la scène avec Dr Feelgood, Alvin Lee, Maceo Parker, Saxon et bien d’autres...
Après des années à accompagner des artistes il décide de tenter l’aventure avec Willcox. Son plaisir de jouer sur scène est communicatif et ne laisse personne indifférent.
Fabien est le second guitariste du “nouveau Willcox”. Remarqué à un concert par Sam pour sa rythmique redoutable, ce jeune guitariste prometteur mettra son jeu énergique et sa jeunesse au service du groupe.
Camille, le dernier venu, a été repéré pour son expérience et son efficacité rythmique; un vrai métronome.
La reformation s’annonce prometteuse. L’album en préparation, “Boogie Brothers”, laisse présager un vrai retour aux sources : un Hard-Boogie Blues sans fioritures et terriblement efficace.
