T.Z. Duhh Biography

T.Z. was born on July 10th, 1991 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Inspired by music from a young age, he wrote his first raps in the 5th grade at the age of 9 after watching the film 8 Mile with his childhood friend Victor and his two younger brothers, Kyle and Conner. He recorded his first song, Pencil Maker at the age of 13 under the name Lil’ Wacko with friend Unykue the Kid and his cousin J Ban, known then as Insane Hustler. Teaming up with Unykue the Kid and his Double Jeopardy squad, T.Z. started producing his own beats at 15 with younger brother Kyle, naming their production team Speaker Bang Productions. Only 2 years after recording his first tracks, T.Z. changed his name from Lil’ Wacko to Twilight Zone, soon shortened by friends to the well known T.Z. moniker he still goes by today. Spending years perfecting his technique throughout high school, T.Z. eventually separated from Unykue the Kid around the age of 17 and, teaming up solely with J Ban, started their own group called Bank Roll Records. This newly founded crew faced its share of difficulties, however, as J Ban was arrested repeatedly over the next few years. These setbacks resulted in a three year span before T.Z. would take his next set of big steps. Fast forwarding to the fall of 2011, T.Z. dropped his first official mixtape, Cloud 9, in late September. This mixtape was created and produced with his new team, consisting of Eric V, his good friend Los Wit The Most, and beat producer Z, who had joined Speaker Bang during late spring of 2010. T.Z. was also instrumental in the production of the beats and changed his production company’s name from Speaker Bang Productions to Speaker Bang Music. Shortly after the release of Cloud 9, T.Z. joined forces with Khaos Kay and dropped ‘Down’ in October, the first of many tracks the two would create. Realizing how well their skills complimented each other, they continued to work together, making ‘Face to Face’ and ‘It’s On’ during the late winter of 2012. Around the same time, he also released ‘Purple Kush’ with beats produced by Z. T.Z. continues to make music to this day, with the newest mixtape, Red Eyez, scheduled to be released in March of this year. You can find more of his tracks at https://soundcloud.com/t-z-1, or catch him performing at events throughout Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
