It's the season of giving, of coming together and of massive xmas blowouts, so Freak Scene have teamed up with Snuggle Dice again to put all of those things together in one great big festive shindig where we'll be raising as much cash as possible for Crisis! It's a tough time of year for a lot of people, not least those who don't have a roof over their heads. We'll be collecting donations, selling some cakes and putting all profits from ticket sales toward Crisis, who do such amazing work helping the homeless, particularly around the xmas holidays. And, as it's a blowout, we've booked an extraordinary selection of our favourite bands to bring the party, including: KERMES! Leicester queer punks with absolutely enormous tunes and an electric live set. They played an incredible show for Snuggle Dice earlier this year, and we caught them at Indietracks (playing in a church), which might have been the best live set we've seen this year. JUNK WHALE! Our favourite local emo-rock banger machine, whose debut self-titled album (released in September) is surely an Album of the Year contender. SUGAR RUSH! Indie pop outfit who won our hearts earlier this year at a Divine Schism show when they very simply charmed the pants off everyone in the room with their hook heavy hits. FANCY DRESS PARTY! Sad sack rockers, whose beautiful and lilting tracks will lull you into a state of emotional vulnerability before eviscerating you in a cathartic and noisy as all hell explosion. More fun than it sounds. SPANK HAIR! Fresh from supporting Nervus at the previous FS/SD team-up, this gorgeous gang will effortlessly twiddle their way into the back of your brain and the depths of your heart with their American midwest-influenced emo pop. This gig will be 14+, with under 18s accompanied by a parent or guardian. It's also wheelchair accessible, via a ramp at the front of the venue. Also, Freak Scene and Snuggle Dice run inclusive shows, and we want people to feel safe. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, bigotry and general dickery of any kind will not be tolerated. If you feel like you can't handle that, feel free not to come. And if you experience any of these, speak to one of us (we'll probably be hanging about the PA/door) or to venue staff. And finally, we recognise that gigs are a financial luxury that not everyone can afford. This gig is for charity, and we are trying to raise as much money for Crisis as we can, but it's also a party and we want people to come along.
