the Dizzies Biography
The Dizzies are an alternative rock band from the Pacific Northwest whose classic rock vibes, when blended with glittering doses of surf and psychedelia, concoct a sparkly soufflé of atmospheric, indie delight. The first lineup of the band was formed in 2016 by a group of college students in a Blues Music and American Studies class at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. Although the group focused mostly on blues covers by Lightnin’ Hopkins and Mississippi Fred McDowell, guitarist/vocalist Tanner Long soon began bringing his own material to rehearsals and the band started to take an alternative/indie rock direction. When drummer Josh Caine left the band to pursue graduate school The Dizzies sniffed out drummer Kai Harvey and immediately started playing heavier and louder due to the power of his drumming. Lead guitarist Jordan Manville left the band soon after in pursuit other ventures which left The Dizzies with three members. This lineup, consisting of Long, Harvey, and bassist David Buck, went on to play numerous shows around Olympia and recorded their first album Sheltered from the Sun at Heavy Meadow Sound in Lacey, WA with producer Kevin Christopher. Buck then left the group once recording had completed to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Washington. Long's roommate Matt Booth joined the band on bass to fulfill the current lineup. The Dizzies continue to play frequently around the PNW and are scheduling a US tour for 2018.
