Born into a family of world musicians, Lucas traveled the globe with his parents, trombonist, percussionist & producer Jay Ashby, and Brazilian vocalist Kenia, and developed a hunger for the melodies and rhythms he heard abroad. As a result, his musical palette has grown increasingly diverse. In addition to performing from an early age with his parents, he has appeared both on stage and on records with some of the top musicians in the realms of jazz and world music, including Paquito D’Rivera, the New York Voices, Jamey Haddad, Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin, Poogie Bell, Steve Davis, Colter Harper, Yao Foli "Cha Cha" Augustine, Simone Baron & Arco Belo, Cissa Paz, and many more.
