Wooden Rocket Biography

Wooden Rocket started when Jaime April and Jason Moon from the Canadian group APRIL MOON moved to Liverpool and started looking around for new venues to play in the city. Three or four of the pubs who expressed an interest asked if it was possible for the group to play two full sets of original music. Jaime and Jason had recorded two albums as APRIL MOON but generally performed a covers show with 5 or 6 original songs included each night. They decided to put together a new project with bass player Tino Keith and drummer Christian Smith that could play a full night of original music and started rehearsals in the summer of 2018.

Wooden Rocket has a sound that weaves between the styles of folk, Americana, and pop, not unlike The Grateful Dead or Creedence Clearwater Revival. Christian Smith's deep organic drumming combines with the crisp Entwistle-like bass playing of Tino Keith to provide a rich underlay supporting the tight harmonies and ripping guitar sounds of Jaime and Jason.

At the time of this writing (September 2018) the group already has performed at several cool festivals such as "Party In The Park" in Suffolk and "Hells Fells" in the Yorkshire Dales, and had the opportunity to open for American group 'Loud Mountains' during Heaven's Gate Americana Night at the historic 81 Renshaw venue in the heart of Liverpool. In addition the band was featured in an interview and performance on Billy Butler's September 14th afternoon show on BBC Radio Merseyside.
