The Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) will more than triple in size to perform masterpieces by two of the Romantic era’s most beloved composers: contemporaries and close friends Johannes Brahms and Antonín Dvořák. Artistic Director Richard Tognetti and Principal Cello Timo‑Veikko Valve will take centre stage in Brahms’ vast and brilliant Double Concerto, their first performance of the work in eleven years. Tognetti will then lead the Orchestra through one of the most glorious symphonies of the nineteenth century, Dvořák’s Symphony No.8.
