Emily Triggs est une musicienne aux racines bien élevées. Dans son premier album When Guinevere Went Under, le guitariste, auteur-compositeur-interprète, vous emmène dans un voyage à travers les influences et les expériences qui ont façonné son son folk / roots. "Je repousse les limites de ce que je considère comme du peuple - et j'influence les influences que j'ai eues au fil des ans", dit-elle. Lead Belly, en passant par le blues du Texas, des influences des montagnes des Appalaches à ses débuts au Canada français. Interprète habituelle lors des réunions de famille et des fêtes, car elle était assez petite pour tenir dans un étui à guitare, le talent naturel d’Emily a été perfectionné à Hemmingford, au Québec. Sa mère, Louise Demers Triggs était une danseuse de la troupe folk Les Feux-Follets. Son père, Stanley Triggs, était un chanteur de folk dans les années 1960 et ses chansons se retrouvent dans Smithsonian Folkways. Le plus jeune des cinq ans qui a grandi dans un mélange de culture anglaise et française, c’est au cours de jam sessions dans le salon avec des musiciens locaux et invités que Emily a appris l’histoire et l’art de la composition et de la performance lyriques. À l'âge de onze ans, elle joue de la guitare, écrit des chansons et se produit. La musique était sa vocation. Emily a étudié la musique au Collège Dawson de Montréal, puis s’est dirigée vers le sud, à Elkins, en Virginie occidentale. Là, elle a étudié une mineure en musique et s'est immergée dans la culture de la musique folklorique des Appalaches. Calgary était la prochaine étape où elle a brisé plus de quelques cordes de guitare en tant qu'interprète solo, en plus de chanter comme le côté doux de House Doctors ou l'un des séraphins de Magnolia Buckskin. En tant qu'auteur-compositeur, sa philosophie est simple: toutes les expériences de la vie, pour le meilleur ou pour le pire, peuvent être exploitées à la recherche des matières premières d'une bonne chanson - d'où son mantra du «pas de regrets». Elle est une observatrice du monde qui nous entoure.

Emily Triggs Biography
Emily Triggs has been active in the Calgary music scene ever since she decided to make her home in the city twelve years ago. Member of local bands “The House Doctors’, “Magnolia Buckskin” and the Fragments she has been singing festival, clubs and coffee houses and is becoming known as one of the areas established singer songwriters. Her style compared to the likes of Michelle Shocked and Dar Williams, Emily has recorded with a number of musical artists over the years including Joe Fournier, Conrad Walz and Rob Ursel. Emily’s natural talent was honed in Hemmingford, Quebec. Her mother was a dancer in the folk troup “Les Feux-Follets” and her father Stanley Triggs was active in the early sixties as a Canadian folk singer. The youngest of five musically inclined children, Emily, at an early age, joined in the family living room jam sessions. Frequently local and visiting musicians attended, adding variety to the milieu. Here in a mix of English and French culture, she learned the history and art of lyrical composition and performance. By age eleven she was playing guitar, writing songs and performing. For two years she studied music at Montreal’s Dawson College, and in 1997 she packed her bags, and made her move to Elkins, West Virginia. Here she studied a minor in music and immersed herself in the Appalachian folk music culture. She's made her way from then to now with the philosophy that all of life's experiences, for better or worse, can be mined for the raw materials of a good song - hence her mantra of “no regrets”. Emily shares her stories through songs with an endearing simplicity that belies their emotional depth. Her music grips the heart and elevates the soul. Accumulated over the years are over 50 compositions from which she will draw tracks for her forthcoming solo album. With a pure and true vocal, complimenting a solid base of undeniably bred-in-the-bone roots music composition, Emily engages the listener. She is an observer of the world around us.
