Moonlight Sky

MOOONLIGHT SKY, a Slovenia based group, has been enrapturing audiences for quite some time now. As far as genre goes the music of MOOONLIGHT SKY is a fusion of different tastes and styles, from rock, jazz, blues up to film score. All of this is presented with a great deal of respect for the music history.

The birth of the band reaches back to 2000. MOOONLIGHT SKY combine the music sensation from the late sixties with the mixing of genres that started with fusion movement, as well as with modern musical currents. With that they prove that genuine music is not just a fashion whim, but is capable of transcending time.

Through numerous concerts on Slovene as well as on foreign stages and through many collaborations with prominent musicians MOOONLIGHT SKY have grown into a mature band distinguished for their quality concert performances. This band is best experienced in a live setting.

In summer 2006 they released their first album with the name Moonlight Sky covering a selection of 9 of their authorial songs. The album is the result of joint work of all the band members and proves that MOOONLIGHT SKY have created a recognisable music image of their own.

February 2009 saw the release of their second album. "I Am" is a ten track itinerary of different styles, brought together by the energy and creativity of the band.

In 2010, Moonlight Sky continue their work as a trio due to the departure of their singer and keyboard player. They record first single and video for the song Labyrinth, which is a first peek into things to come. The material is more acoustic and instrumental. The group now officially consists of three members: Miha Petric (guitars), Janez Moder (bass) and Žiga Kožar (drums). They are all composers, arrangers and are an active part of the Slovenian music scene. Outside of Moonlight Sky they colaborated with many prominent groups, mostly from Slovenia but also with Peter Erskine and Stuart Hamm.

In 2012, the band changes name to Moonlight Sky Trio and releases their third CD »Changing Parameters«. In april they perform at Kino Šiška where they promote the new material. Concert hall is packed and audience is very pleased with new music. The third CD consists of 10 songs, all writt en and arranged by the members of Moonlight Sky Trio. Music is a mixture of fusion, jazz, rock, flamenco, tango and world music. All compositions but one are instrumental pieces. They are reflecting energetic performance, mixed rhytms and complex melodic and harmonic structure.

In autumn 2016, they recorded their fourth album The Four. All music is
composed by members of the group. The Four features 8 instrumental authorial pieces and combines the freedom of jazz with vivacious energy. It is all connected by group's speciality: complex rhythmical and melodic elements. The material presented is mostly complex in nature, the compositions are written in jazz-rock style.

The guests on the album are Goran Bojčevski (clarinet) and Črt
Remic (saxophone). The album was produced by Matej Gobec, one of the most prominent Slovene sound engineers.

In November 2016, the group presented the fourth album at the SiTi theater in Ljubljana. Album received positive feedback from Slovenian but also from foreign media. During 2017 the album was presented at many concerts on a tour of Austria and Slovenia.
