Iconic Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer Lila Downs is one of the world’s most singular and powerful voices, whose compelling stage presence and poignant storytelling transcend all language barriers. Raised in Minnesota and Oaxaca, this global superstar’s exquisite artistry bridges traditions from across the Americas, with influences ranging from the folk and ranchera music of Mexico and South America to North American folk, jazz, blues, and hip-hop. As a passionate human-rights activist, Lila’s lyrics often highlight issues relating to social justice, sharing stories that too often go untold.
On her new album, “Al Chile”, Lila pays homage to chile and the complicated relationship Mexicans have with the fiery fruit that causes them happiness, suffering, sweat and tears. Lila has graced the stages of many of the world’s most prestigious festivals and venues, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl. She has played the Lensic to sold-out audiences many times and we are excited to welcome her back in 2020!

Lila Downs Biography
Lila Downs, one of the most powerful and unique voices in the world, returns to Europe with the 'Dos Corazones' world tour, in which she will premiere some of the songs from her new album 'La Sánchez', which will be released in the summer , and which includes some of her compositions created during the pandemic, with very sentimental lyrics and mourning for the death of her husband Paul Cohen.
Winner of a Grammy and 6 Latin Grammys, Lila Downs triumphs on stage for her personality and for the moving stories that are told in the lyrics of her songs, in which she denounces social injustice, immigration problems and the defense of women, especially indigenous women and workers.
Her new work 'La Sánchez' (Sony Music), in reference to her maternal surname, contains sounds from the north of her country, pays homage to her maternal influence and narrates the vicissitudes of personal and social relationships. His 14th album is produced by Orlando Aispuro, a guitarist and producer who has collaborated with artists such as Carín León, C.Tangana and Matisse.
To commemorate her 25 years of artistic career, the Mexican singer-songwriter offered a special concert at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, which was recorded on a live album called 'Desde Bellas Artes México'
