About this concert
Tickets are available locally at Recycled Records, The Melting Pot World Emporium & Smoke Shop or The Saint (at the bar)John Notto likes to call the sound of his band, Dirty Honey, New Fashioned Rock n Roll. Youd be hard-pressed to find a better description. The Los Angeles quartet is indeed a rock n roll band, straight up and with no apologies or explanations needed -- and a fan base that includes Guns N Roses, Slash s self-titled debut EP are filled with everything thats real rock fans love -- meaty melodies, explosive dynamics, grooves as tight as a sealed envelope, vocals that bellow across the ice and snow of Valhalla and guitar riffs that come at you like a heavyweight haymakers. Spend 20 minutes with Dirty Honey, and youll find yourself asking, sincerely, Please sir, may I have another...Weve been able to identify what speaks most honestly to us, which is what you hear on (the EP), notes guitarist Notto. What we do is from the prime-time vinyl era -- the 70s and maybe a touch of early 80s, and 90s, with some modern stuff as well. And over the past couple of years of hard gigging, Dirty Honey has found its not alone in craving that kind of music.Millennials have been starved of truly great rock music for a long time, says front man Marc LaBelle. At some point, EDM and hip-hop isnt the new thing anymore and whats fresh again now is rock. Every day walking around L.A. youll see dozens of T-shirts with Zeppelin, the Who, the Stones and Beatles logo. Rock n roll will never die -- thought it might take a nap for a few years here and there. Drummer Corey Coverstone, meanwhile, comes straight to the point, adding, Its been missing for a long time. People want it. We want to give it to them. The group has continued to mine its reputation as a cranking live act, both on its own and supporting major names as well as at festivals such as Sonic Temple, Welcome to Rockville, Rocklahoma, Heavy MTL, Epicenter and the Impact Festival.Dirty Honey is both a destination and a beginning for the band. Mostly, however, its a the first of what Dirty Honey hopes will be many declarations of rock n roll prowess and creative intent, forging a fresh path from familiar conventions. We want to be as big as Aerosmith and the Black Keys and AC/DC one day, LaBelle says. Additionally, we want the band to grow to a place where Dirty Honey is just its own identity, like all of our predecessors. Notto concurs, adding that, we want to be a band that stands out as unique, memorable, and timeless. We want our live shows to be MORE than the record. And we want to push it to the edge every chance we get.

Black Sunshine Biography

Tenacity, passion, dedication and drive, are the only four words that can possibly describe Black Sunshine. With an explosive debut album ready to be unleashed on the masses, Black Sunshine’s future looks blindingly bright. Black Sunshine initially was the brainchild of extreme sports icon and Volkl team rider Matt Reardon, one of the top freeskiers in the world. After a horrific accident, 11 leg operations and a complicated staph infection nearly derailed his career in extreme sports entirely, he decided to jump into the shark infested waters of the music business head first. During this down time he wrote over 40 songs determined to turn tragedy into triumph. Armed with an arsenal full of heavy guitar riffs and infectious melodies, Reardon assembled Black Sunshine to bring his signature brand of hard rock to the masses. Ultimately, perseverance paid off as he was able to recruit drummer Matt “Toast” Young who has worked with industry giants, Billy Idol, Ray Luzier (Korn, Army of Anyone), Vinnie Colaiuta (Recording legend, Sting, Zappa) and Brian Tichy to execute his musical vision. Afterwards the remaining pieces of the puzzle fell in to place as guitarist Charles Lee, who was a member of the John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) side-project LOSER joined their ranks. Lee was playing with Filter and just recently spent two-months on the road with Theory of a Deadman during their stint on Motley Crue’s CRUEFEST. Finally, Bassist Christopher Serafini, formerly of Wind Up Recording artist Pollen, joined the group and gave Black Sunshine’s a heavy thick sounding low-end. Together the group managed to assemble the eleven blistering hard rock songs that compromise the group’s self-titled debut album. Recorded with Grammy award winning producer Bob Marlette (Shinedown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Seether, Filter, Saliva) at the wheel, Black Sunshine was able to record an album that stacks up against the group’s past musical accomplishments and still stands toe-to-toe with today’s modern rock heavyweights like Shinedown, Papa Roach and Breaking Benjamin. Marlette was able to bring out the soaring melodies that Black sunshine is known for, while polishing the riffs into a well oiled machine. Marlette proclaimed Black Sunshine’s debut “stands toe to toe with any top rock album out on the shelf!” DEBUT ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW ON ITUNES!!!! http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/black-sunshine/id361315326 AND AMAZON!! http://amzn.to/9IjAXE
