Matthew Ciuffitelli Biography

“Matthew Ciuffitelli has resonance and power” is what Brooklyn Discover raved about this up-and-coming baritone’s auspicious performance at a Columbus Citizen’s Foundation Event entitled Opera Night Live! These qualities were equally evident when he appeared as Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Bob/Ben in The Old Maid and the Thief, Sergeant Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore and the Sacristan in Tosca, all with Eastern Opera Company. He was outstanding as Papageno in Magic Flute with Nyack Opera, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with Amore Opera, and as Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly and Angelotti in Tosca, both with New Jersey Festival Orchestra. Matthew Ciuffitelli has also performed in The Telephone with Light Opera of New Jersey and as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte in New York’s Pardington Hall.

In 2017, Mr. Ciuffitelli was a featured Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera, where he performed as Official Registrar in the company’s auspicious production of Madama Butterfly. Also that season, he was an Emerging Artist at Opera St. Petersburg, where he covered the role of Valentin in Faust. While in Chicago, Mr. Ciuffitelli was provided the unique and coveted opportunity to perform alongside the world-renowned Rolling Stones at Chicago’s United Center. While there, he also appeared in the U.S. premiere of the mixed-media work, Mountain Top by Dutch avant-pop composer, Jacob Ter Veldhuis. Of further note, Mr. Ciuffitelli appeared in the A Tale of Two Cities 10th Anniversary Concert alongside the Original Broadway and London cast this past October.

More recently, Matthew Ciuffitelli performed as Angelotti in New Jersey Festival Orchestra’s Tosca upon the heels of his highly-acclaimed performance as solo artist in an Opera Tribute Concert to Licia Albanese, as produced by Opera at Florham to feature the winners of the company’s 2019 opera competition. Also recently, the rising baritone earned 3rd place in New Jersey State Opera’s opera competition, which presented him in an enthusiastically-received opera gala concert. In December of 2018, Mr. Ciuffitelli appeared as featured soloist with the well-known international concert group, Married to Broadway at the Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he again reappeared as lead soloist in a brand new Broadway revue production entitled Best of Broadway with the renowned Sharpe Family Singers this past summer 2019.

Baritone Matthew Ciuffitelli hails from Wantage, New Jersey and was a successful voice performance major at The Music Conservatory of Chicago’s College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. He currently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey and continues his vocal studies with David Jones.
