What would Dolly do? Brisbane singer songwriter Megan Cooper looks back on her past three albums and joins the interpretative musical dots to the songs of her hero Dolly Parton.Fresh from performances at Brisbane Festival’s Spiegltent and the Gympie Muster, Megan will be joined on stage by Mark Angel and Salliana Campbell. Expect whistle solos, hip shaking, mountain sounds, the darker side of Dolly and stories, lots of stories.

Megan Cooper Biography
Megan Cooper’s music is folksy, vintage, alt country… the sonic equivalent of a fragrant cup of tea with a sneaky shot of something a little stronger. She’s a hip shaking wicked whistler, who’s dodgy ankles led her around the mountain, back to the music of her river village upbringing.
With addictive melodies and extraordinary tales of common hearts, Cooper’s been earning praise since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Ghosts, Choirs & Kings.
For someone who sings the sad songs, she sure has a good time doing it. Her live shows are full of energy, sweet harmony and dry observation of the everyday. A natural performer, Cooper layers her shows with earthiness, energy and enthusiasm for the art of the story.
Her latest album Wild Mountain confirms she has an inbuilt affinity with everything that is good in twang, delivering a deliciously elegant serving of aural sweetness that is rooted in the traditions of Americana and Australian Folk.
Always song writing, usually in her kitchen, Cooper is a multi Queensland Music Awards finalist and producer of the travelling songwriters showcase The Cake and Cordial Sessions and has recently debuted her first cabaret show “What Would Dolly Do”.
