Adrien Reju Biography
With years of stage appearances as a solo artist, band member, and background singer with artists such as Rich Robinson (The Magpie Salute), Rachael Yamagata, Amos Lee, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, and Linda Rondstadt, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Adrien Reju continues to build an evolving career in music. Her latest studio project Strange Love and the Secret Language, an album billed as “a collection of unconventional love songs,” was recorded at Goathouse Studios in Woodstock, NY with production duo The Elegant Too (Chris Maxwell and Phil Hernandez) and released on Zip Records in 2015. The album offers listeners a lush, deeply textured indie-pop record that Glide Magazine describes as "an ideal concept album… that resonates on first listen," with Reju's distinct voice at the forefront which Relix says "cut[s] right through to the soul." The recording features accessible yet compositionally adventurous original songs, as well as arrangements of covers by David Bowie, Elliot Smith, John Cale, Prince, and King Missile, and finds Reju in the company of fellow Woodstock artists A.C. Newman (The New Pornographers) and Marco Benevento.
