About this concert
Jonas Myers grew up in Seattle and started gigging on piano and bass at age 12. For three years he played piano in the prestigious Garfield High School Jazz Ensemble. After studying creative writing in college, he returned to Seattle to begin his career as a musician, establishing himself quickly as an in-demand pianist all over the region. Jonas has performed frequently at Seattle jazz hotspots like Tula's, Vito's, Egan's, and The Royal Room, as well as live on KNKX. He plays regularly at Canlis. He is also a singer-songwriter who plays lots of living room concerts. His playing encompasses a wide range of styles and influences, but his sound is rooted in his jazz education. You might detect some Bill Evans, some Thelonious Monk, some Dr. John, some Brad Mehldau—to name just a few. Audiences connect with Jonas's lively energy, his lyrical improvisation, his strong rhythmic feel, and the obvious pleasure he takes in playing music.
