We loved seeing Born Crooked live! We hadn’t seen them on stage in a long time. Slide guitar was better than ever and Hunter’s voice is stronger and richer! ARE is an amazing drummer and we got to experience Kiran who totally ROCKS that organ. These guys are not to be missed if you get the opportunity!!

Born Crooked Biography

Sometimes it takes just two to rock the world.
Need proof? Listen to Born Crooked -- and crank it up.

You’ve just received a potent, sonic 1-2 punch from brother-sister band, Born Crooked. The Duo pushes the boundaries of an Alternative rock sound, while keeping it personal and soulful in their writing and live show.

“Hunter’s vocals are confident, electrifying and soulful, just like his guitar playing. He cranks out fuzzy, bluesy riffs with the best of them. ARE is a thunderous beauty that lays down the boom whenever she sits at a kit." As described by The Odyssey Magazine, captures a hint of the intensity and energy these siblings pour out into their music.

Much of this intensity stems from their love for their brother Christian, who passed away in 2013 after a lifelong battle with scoliosis, epilepsy and other painful physical disabilities. “When we’re in the green room or on the side of the stage, getting ready to walk on, we always think of him,” Hunter says. “What we do is as much for him as it is for us.”

Hunter and ARE witnessed Christian recovering from spinal surgery... “He couldn’t have any pain medication, due to allergies, and he was in immense discomfort to say the least. Christians favorite band was Led Zeppelin. Our mother started playing a DVD of Led Zeppelin Live for him. ARE and I watched as his tears dried and he was comforted by the music... it took away his pain. This moment lit a fire in us and showed us the impact music can have.”

Born Crooked’s sound is infused with a passion that's impossible to ignore. The brother-sister Duo is not afraid to push boundaries, break the rules and incorporate new elements into their music. That passion can be heard in their latest project with Brian Craddock and Josh Paul of CO:OP Song Production. Whether it be the appetite of desire on “Sugar”, stadium chants on “May the Best Man Win”, or the torture of love on “Going Crazy” the music of Born Crooked cannot be denied.

Add to this their sibling synchronicity, their ability to feed on and amplify each other’s intensity. They’ve felt this connection from the moment they played their first local gigs through appearances abroad on several US and European tours, Born Crooked is about their bond with each other and, always, with Christian.

Born Crooked always take the stage as a two piece, a family. The duo also invite out friends to sit in on Bass and Keys during their set, allowing Hunter & ARE to flex other musical muscles to make for an impactful night of music.

They continue to honor him through charity performances at rehabilitation centers, hospitals and, Hunter notes, “anyplace where people can’t get out and hear music. We take it to them because we saw the healing effect that music had on Christian. We want to connect with everyone we can.”

And that includes their ever-widening fan base. “It’s very important for us to give audiences something positive that they’ll remember forever, something that they can look back and say, ‘That was a great night.’”

Countless great nights await all who experience Born Crooked. Their day begins now.
