Crisie Isbell Biography

Crisie Isbell is a singer…Crisie Isbell is a survivor…Crisie Isbell is a poet and songwriter who writes about her life. She is an Alabama girl who has wonderful childhood memories of being on her grandparent’s cattle farm. She fondly remembers fishing with Paw Paw and helping Granny can vegetables. For hours on end she would sort through their vinyl record collection and play Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty and Patsy Cline.
Then, through a series of unfortunate events, her world changed dramatically. She needed to find a way to sort through all of the confusing feelings that she was having…so when she was 7 years old she began to write short stories on the back of brown paper grocery bags. To further escape the painful adult world that she had no control over, Crisie at the age of 10, began writing her own collection of personal poetry. Unfortunately when she was 12 years old she landed in foster care. Thankfully during her teenage years she was able to live with her best friend’s family and escape the foster care system. She even wrote her own poetry column in her high school newspaper.
She loved to sing but was too shy and downtrodden to even let her best friend hear her. Through her friend’s unconditional love and encouragement Crisie eventually began to open up and sing in a few of the local bars. The two friends poured through vinyl records listening to the Eagles, Tom Petty and Bob Seger. In her 20’s Crisie wrote songs and sang the Blues and classic rock with many different musicians and bands.
During this time Crisie (after many stumbles and mistakes) surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. She began to stabilize her life and build a firm foundation for her future. She sang in the church choir and even taught children’s choir. She recorded songs that she wrote to God and sang them in her church. For ten years she worked in the medical field as a phlebotomist, lab tech and a nurse. Her favorite job was working with cancer patients.
Crisie married Joe Isbell… the love of her life. Together they have six children and they homestead on their beautiful farm in Alabama. Together they grow vegetables, raise cattle, have many animals, go deer hunting and do lots of fishing. It was Joe who convinced her to pursue her musical dream. He contacted award winning producer Frank Green at Skytone Records/Digitalmaster Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
With Frank’s guidance Crisie has co-written and recorded several songs including ‘Howling at the Moon’ which is dedicated to her dear friend who lost her life in 2010. She will be forever grateful for her friend’s loving encouragement years ago that helped that scared young girl begin to share with others the gift of singing/songwriting that God has blessed her with.
Crisie spends time helping women and children in ways that are close to her heart. She runs her own jail ministry and spends time praying for and encouraging incarcerated women. She works with a Christian adoption agency to help support pregnant women who are in jail.
This EP project that she has done with Frank has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. For Crisie to be able to write from her heart about her own life experiences is truly a dream come true!
