About this concert

Barely Autumn Biography

When night falls, Nico Kennes reaches for his guitar. He writes, erases and rewrites, but his music has not left the safety of four walls for years. Until now.

The Brussels based multi-instrumentalist is sending his music out into the world as Barely Autumn. His self-titled debut is a compelling, forty-minute synthesis of Barely Autumn’s melodical melancholy, in the same vein as Elliott Smith, Sophia and Eels. And even Nick Cave’s and Neil Young’s poetry is never far away.

Nico Kennes conceived the songs within the comfortable seclusion of his bedroom walls, only to then isolate himself with his band and producer Wouter Vlaeminck (Tomàn, Raketkanon, Renée) in the Ardennes forest.

British sound technician John Davis (R.E.M., U2, Royal Blood) signed up to master the record. Barely Autumn’s self-titled album launched with Zealrecords on September 29th.
